Along the way, Edo-period wooden townhouses reveal the charm of old Kyoto.
The tour ends on Hanamikoji Street, the heart of the geisha district, where you may catch a glimpse of a geisha on her way to an evening engagement. Here, you will learn about the strict training of geisha, their graceful dances and the craftsmanship behind their beautiful kimonos and hairstyles, giving you a glimpse into Gion’s traditional culture.

Had a great sunset tour with our guide, Logan, who is very informative about the Gion district and the history and happenings of a Geisha's life. No questions were left unanswered. Thoroughly enjoyed it, just wished it was warmer.
We loved every minute of the tour! Our guide Valeria is the absolute best - her knowledge is beyond! We did the tour at night so we had most of the neighbourhoods to ourselves. Thank you for sharing the history of Kyoto and some gems along the way with us! Okini!!
A beautiful night tour through the streets of Kyoto. The guide was very pleasant from the start and eager to tell us about things and answer any questions we had along the way. Highly recommended if it's your first time in Kyoto 😊
This was an amazing tour, such good value and so informative. Ton our guide moved us at a good pace, shared great information and was very personable. Departing at dusk was THE BEST as we watched the lights come on down the small laneways and in the shrines. The route was so good we ended up retracing those same steps today. I would highly recommend this walking tour.
The tour with Taylor was wonderful! She is extremely personable! I would recommend a night tour to everyone—simply because the streets and side alleys are less crowded, which makes the atmosphere much more pleasant!
Our Gion walking tour with Edo was exceptional. His deep knowledge of the area, geisha traditions, and local history made the experience truly meaningful. Edo explained everything clearly, answered every question, and guided us through beautiful streets we would never have found on our own. A fantastic guide.⭐
We went on the tour of Kyoto with Thea. Our group was around 10 people and lasted.for about 2.5 hours. What a great way to get to see and understand the history of Kyoto. Both my 9 & 12 year old loved the tour as well, even more than the kitsunge workshop that we took earlier today. Thea was great in how she gave the group time to take photos, pray at different shrines if we wanted to, and helped capture nice family photos. Tip: Book a time about an hour before sunset so you can see some of the temples in daylight but also see Gion at night with lanterns.
Great tour to do at sunset or dusk. It covers a large area in 2 hours. Oliver was a great guide. Was very knowledgeable about Kyoto and Geisha history. Took us to quite a few places. Thing to note: it’s quite a brisk and fast paced walk as there is quite a few places to see. Would recommend planning to have a nap or rest before the tour. You don’t get as much time at each spot before your off to the next. However I would still recommend taking the tour as I enjoyed it overall.
Our guide Ken was very informative and patient. We even had a chance to see a Maiko walking down the street! Booking a late afternoon/evening tour is better esuon hot/sunny days. Thanks for the interesting history of Kyoto. it truly is beautiful city! I wish we spent more time here to explore.
