Kyushu Dream Trip: Hot Springs, Shrines, and Retro Train Journey, Immerse Yourself in Kyushu's Cultural Heritage and Natural Beauty, Embark on a Gentle and Poetic Healing Journey 🌿

  • Start your morning at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine ⛩️, the head shrine of all Tenmangu shrines in Japan, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the god of scholarship. Stroll between the vermilion-lacquered main hall and the shrine garden, where seasonal flowers bloom in rotation, with the plum blossom season being particularly romantic.
  • At noon, head to Beppu Ropeway 🚡, connecting Beppu and Mount Tsurumi. Take the ropeway to overlook Beppu Bay and the beautiful mountains. There are observation decks and walking trails at the summit, offering 360° views of the changing natural scenery throughout the seasons. It's cool and refreshing in summer, covered in red leaves in autumn, and a fairytale-like snowy landscape in winter. Get up close to the steaming, bubbling blue-green hot springs and experience Beppu's unique hot spring wonders.
  • In the afternoon, arrive at Yufuin Town 🏞️ to sample local desserts, coffee, and specialty foods. Lake Kinrin is shrouded in mist, dreamlike and ethereal, with the torii gate by the lake and its reflection adding a mysterious touch to photos 📸.

Of course, the most attractive part of this activity is the Yufuin no Mori train! Return Yufuin no Mori train schedule (Yufuin to Fukuoka, optional return on the second day):

  • Train 1: 15:56 to 18:10 (As of September 30, this service is replaced by the Yufu Limited Express)

Review for: English-speaking Guide | Includes Yufuin no Mori Train (Optional Return on Day 2)

This was an amazing experience! Our tour guide, Mrs. Nana, was very kind, friendly, and helpful throughout the trip. I would definitely recommend this tour to my friends. If you join this tour, don’t miss the onsen eggs at Umi Jigoku—they’re incredibly delicious! I only bought one, and I really regret not getting more. The croquettes at Yufuin Floral Village are also a must-try. I also wanted to try the grilled mushrooms, but unfortunately the queue was so long that they sold out before I could buy any. That was a little disappointing. The only downside was visiting in the summer. It was extremely hot, and walking around in the heat was quite tiring. Other than that, I had a great time!

Review for: No train experience included (Chinese/English/Korean-speaking guide)

On June 21, 2026, my family and I took Klook's Kyushu day tour (Yufuin no Mori, Dazaifu, Beppu Ropeway, etc.). The itinerary was incredibly rich and fulfilling, and the best part was meeting our tour guide, Lina! Lina was absolutely wonderful, taking meticulous care of us throughout the entire trip. Since my elderly mother was with us, Lina always paid special attention and actively assisted her every time we got on and off the bus, making my mother feel very safe and respected. What surprised and touched us even more was that Lina also very fortunately gave my daughter a yukata experience. Seeing my daughter so happy in her yukata truly added the most beautiful memory to our trip! Furthermore, Lina was very enthusiastic about recommending local delicacies along the way, ensuring we had no bad food experiences and ate very satisfying meals. Her photos were also taken from excellent angles. The entire day's itinerary was smooth, and we didn't feel tired at all. If you come to Kyushu, having Lina as your tour guide would definitely be the happiest thing! Thank you, Lina, for giving our whole family such a perfect day!

Our tour guide, Emy An was very helpful, kind and patient. She gave lots of useful information and tips during the trip. Dazaifu and Yufuin are both very beautiful and worth to take time to explore. We did not have much luck when we went up the Beppu Ropeway as the mist was very strong. Didn’t get a good view from the top. Yufuin No Mori is a beautiful train and our family enjoyed the train ride very much!

Another excellent tour with gogoday! Every tour we've booked with them has been well organized, and this Kyushu day trip was no exception. Our tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. They shared interesting information about each destination, gave great recommendations on what to eat and buy, and even helped us take photos throughout the trip. What stood out most was that they went the extra mile to help my wife and me book a private onsen in Yufuin, making our experience even more special. If you enjoy soaking in natural hot springs, a private onsen in Yufuin is definitely a must-try. The itinerary was well planned, covering Yufuin, Yufuin Floral Village, Dazaifu, and the Beppu Ropeway with enough time to enjoy each stop. Overall, we had a fantastic day and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Fukuoka. Thank you, gogoday, for another memorable experience!

Review for: No train experience included (Korean-speaking guide)

I signed up for what I thought was a Korean guided tour, but when we departed, there were only a few Koreans; it was a multinational bus tour! I was momentarily flustered by the Chinese pouring through the microphone as soon as we set off. I wondered, 'When will the Korean explanation start today...?' Just then, our guide began speaking in Korean, and I gradually started to relax. As I listened to the stories, we soon arrived at Dazaifu Tenmangu. I had gone with excitement, thinking it would be the plum blossom festival in March, but spring hadn't quite arrived yet. Seeing the budding sprouts made me feel a little disappointed. Additionally, some sections were under construction, so it felt like there was less to see than last year. Still, I quietly told myself, 'Let's come back when the flowers are in bloom.' Next was Beppu Ropeway. I paid 1800 yen and took the cable car up, but after just 10 minutes, all I saw was clouds. Honestly, it felt a bit anticlimactic. There were moments when I thought, 'Is this it...?' But I suppose that's more likely in the colder season. I'll pass on this for now, believing it would be a breathtaking view in warmer weather! Finally, Yufuin. I've been here many times, but it feels different with each season. I've become so familiar with it that I can even remember the shop names, but it still has a charming, tourist-friendly appeal. As for Kinrin Lake... this time, it felt unusually quiet and lonely, perhaps because my heart was still lingering at the end of winter. And... the real star of this trip was Guide Lee Hyang-yong! At first, I honestly grumbled a bit, thinking, 'Why did they say it was a Korean guide when it's multinational?' But she completely changed my mind. From the bus's departure to its arrival, she seamlessly switched between Chinese and Korean, providing explanations without a break. Her energy and passion were truly amazing. It wasn't just simple guidance; I felt her genuine desire to share as much as possible until the very end, and I was deeply moved by her dedication. It was another day that reminded me that people are more memorable than the weather on a trip. If I have another chance, she's definitely the guide I'd want to travel with again. 😍😍

had a beautiful and amazing day visiting Yufuin, Beppu, Kinrin Lake, and Dazaifu! was the only English-speaking guest on the tour, while most of the other guests were part of the Chinese-speaking group. But thanks to our wonderful tour guide, Nana, I never felt left out or like I was on my own. Nana-san translated everything for me in English, took my phone number just in case I got or lost, made sure I had a comfy seat, and constantly checked that I was okay. She was so warm, funny, and genuinely thoughtful. She even reco a great place for ice cream at Honeybees! It honestly felt like I had my own little travel buddy for the day My fave part of the trip was Kinrin Lake. I was honestly amazed by how beautiful it was Beppu was also incredible. we couldn’t go on the Beppu Ropeway because of the weather, Dazaifu was under construction during my visit. Yufuin was probably the least enjoyable part for me because it felt quite touristy and crowded ended up having such a wonderful time.

Our Yufuin no Mori tour was an amazing experience and definitely worth booking. Beppu is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited, and every stop along the way was memorable. A special thanks to our tour guide, Mr. Jin, who was very helpful and accommodating throughout the trip. He made sure we arrived at each destination on time, shared lots of interesting information about the places we visited, and even took great photos for us. His guidance made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the area!

Review for: Includes Yufuin no Mori train | Optional return on the second day (Chinese/English/Korean guide)

This itinerary was packed, and it would have been better to have more time for sightseeing in Dazaifu. The cable car ride up the mountain offered a great panoramic view of Beppu, the surrounding mountains, and the volcanic lakes. It's a shame we couldn't see the mountains in full bloom at the end of April. Yufuin has many shops and unique snacks, and choosing to return on the second day was an excellent arrangement. We also got to experience the Yufuin no Mori train, and not having to buy tickets or scramble for seats ourselves was highly recommended. Our tour guide, Sun Nan, spoke multiple languages and was happy to help everyone take group photos. He also made sure that all group members leaving the tour in Yufuin found their accommodations, which was very thoughtful. Perhaps because there was a lot of information to convey in multiple languages, his speech was a bit fast; slowing down a little would have been better. Additionally, I'm not sure why the agency sent the wrong message, mistakenly thinking we had canceled, but thankfully, the guide resolved the issue.

Review for: No train experience included (Chinese/English/Korean-speaking guide)

I just finished my Yufuin no Mori day trip today, and I absolutely have to give a big thank you to our tour guide, Zhang Qing! From the moment we gathered in the morning, she greeted us warmly with a prominent yellow flag. The entire day's itinerary was incredibly smooth, and the timing was perfectly managed, so we never felt rushed. The scenery along the way was truly breathtaking. Whether it was the pastoral charm of Yufuin town, the fairytale floral village of Yufuin, or the magnificent mountain views from the Beppu Ropeway, every stop made us want to keep taking photos! Zhang Qing's commentary was also outstanding. She explained everything from Dazaifu's historical anecdotes and local stories to landscape descriptions in a vivid and clear manner, showing she had done her homework thoroughly. She always answered group members' questions patiently, and her friendly, smiling demeanor made everyone feel especially welcome. But what impressed me most was that Zhang Qing not only took excellent care of the attractions on the itinerary but also used the travel time to continuously share her personal recommendations for Fukuoka's hidden culinary gems—where to find the most authentic tonkotsu ramen, which mentaiko souvenir offers the best value, which attractions are worth setting aside an extra day to explore leisurely, and she even recommended several izakayas popular with locals! These extra thoughtful shares were truly the surprising bonus of this trip. Overall, Zhang Qing's service absolutely deserves a five-star rating! Her passion for her job and her dedication to travelers created a wonderfully harmonious atmosphere for the entire group. The next time I visit Kyushu, I will definitely prioritize joining Zhang Qing's tour and will highly recommend her to all my friends! Thank you, Zhang Qing, for giving us such wonderful memories!

The price is more than worth it. The scenery is beautiful, although some places were quite crowded, which is understandable. The tour guide was generally helpful, but there is a little room for improvement in giving equal attention to all tourists and making everyone feel included throughout the tour.
