Iriomote Island: Sunset & Yaeyama Hime Firefly Watching Tour [Limited Time: March - May]

For our honeymoon, we visited Iriomote Island for the first time, and as soon as we arrived, we joined a firefly tour. I had seen a few fireflies in the countryside when I was very young, but my wife had never seen them before. As dusk fell and it grew darker, fireflies began to appear one by one, and soon every space we looked at was filled with them. It was an unimaginable, truly rare experience. I don't know how many chances we'll have in our lives to encounter fireflies again. If you visit Iriomote, I highly recommend experiencing this!

The guide was very kind and answered all our questions in detail, the tour itself was incredible! Not just the fireflies, but the walk in the jungle at night, being able to hear all the animals... We were also lucky to have a clear sky at night, so we could see the stars. The guide showed us different spots on the way and shared a lot of interesting facts about the island, its animals and people. Definitely recommend!!

Experience: Saw many fireflies, but couldn't take photos to protect the natural environment. Also saw other creatures; on rainy days, there were many frogs and snakes.
