From the Xiamen International Cruise Center (=Cruise Center Xiamen-Gulangyu Terminal, Dongdu Terminal/Dongdu Tongyi Terminal), tourists can only enter the pier from here. After arriving at the cruise center, go up to the 2nd floor ticket office to exchange tickets (passport/Taiwan Compatriot Card), then line up according to the on-site indicator lights. When the time is right, you can go to Sanqiutian Pier on Gulangyu Island~ The boat ride takes about 20 minutes and is quite punctual, overall it's good! There are really a lot of people on holidays, so please be aware. There will be some merchandise sold on the boat, you can buy it as a souvenir if you want.

Go to Dongdu Ferry Terminal at least 30 mins earlier. Redeem for a physical printed QR code from the digital machine with your passport number. Go through security and start queuing at your departure gate. Simple.

The outbound ferry was smooth, and redeeming the tickets was easy. For the return trip, being able to choose the arrival pier made independent travel more flexible. Customer service was very responsive, resolving issues within an hour. Very good.

I recommend staying at this hotel when visiting Xiamen. It's very close to Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street. Just walk through an alley and you'll see Starbucks. The pedestrian street has a lot of food and shopping. A bit further away, you can take a bus to places where you can enjoy seafood processing and stir-fries. There's also a good Thai Impression Spa nearby for massages. Staying one night costs around $200, which is quite cost-effective. I stayed on the 5th floor and it wasn't too noisy. However, you only get one room card, and you need to swipe it to use the elevator, so remember to take the card with you when you leave the room. It's fairly bright, clean, and tidy, and the shower is comfortable. They even provide an eye mask and hand lotion. I bought two aromatherapy diffusers before leaving. The downstairs decoration is quite nice. If you order takeout, it will be delivered to the front desk downstairs. They have portable chargers for rent and luggage storage. Booking certain rooms includes afternoon tea.

Go to the 3F counter at the Sheung Wan Ferry Terminal to exchange your ticket. If you have a Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents (MTP), fill in the MTP number. If you have a one-time entry permit (landing visa), you can initially fill in your passport number; they will help you change it to the one-time MTP number on-site. Booking tickets in advance ensures you have a seat, although there are usually seats available on the day.
