San Juan

The best time to visit is from November to May during the dry season. Surfing conditions are optimal between October and March when swells are consistent.

From Manila, take a bus from Buendia (Gil Puyat) or Cubao terminals bound for San Juan or Laiya, Batangas. Travel time is roughly 3 to 4 hours depending on traffic. By private car, take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and follow the route through Lipa City or Rosario.

Tricycles are the main mode of transport within the town proper and to beach areas. Habal-habal (motorcycle taxis) are also available for reaching more remote coves. Renting a motorbike or arranging a day tour with a local guide is recommended for exploring the coastline.

Most visitors stay along the beachfront strip near the main surf area, where resorts and cottages are clustered for easy beach access. Laiya is another popular base, offering a wider selection of mid-range to upscale beach resorts ideal for families and group trips.
