Things to do in Xiamen

Nice experience. We were given sufficient time to tour the Tulou. It was a Chinese-speaking tour. There were people from Singapore, Taiwan, Inner Mongolia, and other parts of China. Everyone was punctual and polite. The coach was very spacious, with only 3 seats in a row. The tour guide was a guy from SHANDONG. He was responsible. The itinerary was covered with sufficient time allocated to each place. To my pleasant surprise, we were served sour vegetable meesua soup, so that we would not be hungry before coming back to Xiamen.

The consultant was patient and recommended a lot of tours that I wouldn’t be able to find on common website.

If you're unsure about the exact date and purchase a plan the night before, our staff will contact you on the day of the tour. Feel free to ask them any questions you may have. Please arrive at the pier early to pick up your tickets, go through security, and wait to board the boat. The cruise is approximately one hour long. There's air conditioning on the first floor, and you can enjoy the night view and breeze on the second floor in the evening without getting too hot.

modern clean bus, pseudo shopping stop at the first tulou stop (local guide was selling tobacco and tea while we waited for the photos to be processed) the tulous were amazing, last stop’s scenic area with water wheel was a bit lacklustre. lunch was communal, dishes tasty. mostly local chinese on the tour.

This tour includes bus transportation, which is convenient for independent travelers since it's a group tour that picks you up from your hotel. It saves you the trouble of planning routes and transferring between transportation methods yourself. Plus, the travel time is acceptable since we mainly use the highway. Lunch is also arranged on the way (not exquisite, but plentiful). The tour guide on the bus is friendly and will try to sell products, but it's not compulsory. After arriving at the Tulou, a local guide will lead the tour. Taiwanese tourists have a great advantage... because Taiwanese and Xiamen dialects are both part of the Minnan language family, the difference in accent is very small, meaning there's no communication barrier. The Tulou residents also take special care of Taiwanese tourists. Special thanks to the grandma at Huaiyuan Building, who even helped me take a panoramic photo of the Tulou from the third floor. Of course, this is on the condition that you can speak Taiwanese. Overall, this tour was very rich and a great experience. Choosing the right tour avoids any unpleasant surprises.

Our guide, Ms. Xie, was very enthusiastic, explained everything clearly, and helped us tour efficiently. While the island itself wasn't particularly noteworthy and we got tired from walking, the beautiful buildings, scenery, and delicious food more than made up for it. I would like to visit this island again when I come back to Xiamen. Thank you for everything.

The travel agency's pre-trip communication and reminders were excellent. Our guide, Luo, was friendly and engaging, possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of Gulangyu's history. He shared many interesting stories that brought the island to life, making the trip more than just sightseeing, but a vivid and memorable experience. This is definitely a top-notch guided tour.
