Reviews summaryI am very grateful for the good weather. Weather is very important for fun. After getting on the boat and going out to sea in the afternoon, we first go to see the waterfall. After anchoring, you can choose to kayak or take a small boat to see the scenery, and you can also jump into the water (but it is very cold, even in January). Enjoy the buffet dinner in the evening. There are not many choices, but the taste is good. There are pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, and fish. There is always something you like. There are also desserts. However, the seating arrangement is not perfect. The seats have been assigned in advance. People who know each other can people sit together. You can watch the stars on the deck at night and see the entire Milky Way. I got up very early in the morning to have breakfast, and saw sea lions on the way back, and the staff also explained it. The room is not big, but the bed is very comfortable. However, the water pressure in the bathroom is not strong and the water drain is not smooth. Two days and one night is not long, but it is very fulfilling.
Having traveled all this way to Milford Sound, how could you not stay the night? The heavy rain brought abundant water, making the waterfalls even more spectacular, and the swirling mist resembled a movie scene of a pirate ship about to set sail. I was lucky enough to see wild penguins and playful seals. On a comfortable mattress in the calm fjord, I had a great night's sleep! Worth it!
There are two fjords in the national park where you can stay overnight, Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound. If you have plenty of time, it is recommended to go to Doubtful Sound. It is more like a secret adventure and more peaceful. It has more fjords to explore and a wider range of sea. It is recommended if you are afraid of seasickness. Bring seasickness medicine, the itinerary of both sides is similar, and Doubtful is slightly better in terms of ample activities and meal time. Doubtful canoeing is for purposeful skiing, while Milford is for purposeless skiing in the fjord.
Really beautiful! And we also saw sea lions and dolphins🤩 but it was really too expensive! ! ! The translation on Klook is a bit problematic. Remember to confirm the number of people and the solution style.
After traveling thousands of miles to the Milford Fjord, I really recommend staying one night on a cruise ship to experience the scenery of the fjord at different times: early morning, sunrise, dusk, and night. Unfortunately, the clouds were too thick on the night we went and we couldn't see the stars. . After boarding the ship, there were appetizers at the beginning, and the buffet dishes for dinner were delicious. However, the seats must be seated according to the arrangement. People who know each other may be separated at different tables, but we also got to know other tourists from Taiwan. The next day The breakfast buffet is also very rich, so you really won’t go hungry on the boat! We chose to take the shuttle bus from Te Anau to Milford Sound to avoid the fatigue of driving. The driver will also guide you along the way and stop at scenic spots for everyone to take photos.
Milford Sound is truly amazing! Experiencing it in both sunny and rainy weather makes it well worth the visit!!
we had really good weather! Kayaking was super fun, food was pretty good, reasonably priced drink. when you think about how many activities it actually includes, it's actually a pretty good bargain!
The scenery of Milford Fjord is really beautiful. There are canoes and boats on the boat to experience. I was lucky to see rare yellow-eyed penguins while riding the boat. The food prepared on the boat was very delicious, and there was a detailed guide explaining the weather. If you are good, you can watch the stars on the deck in the middle of the night, and you can also see the dolphins during the day. It is recommended that you can take a bus from Queenstown to reduce the trouble of long-distance driving. The journey is well worth it!
This was a unique and memorable experience and I'm glad I did it. We got picked up at te anau and the drive + guide (Brandon) was informative and interesting. It was amazing to have the fiords to ourselves at Milford and see the sunset and stars from the boat. The cruise was well executed, had sufficient meals and the room was basic though be mindful of thin walls. Nothing beats waking up in the nature and seeing dolphins and seals and be the only boat on the seas early morning. Would do it again and recommend. Food options were vegetarian friendly.
It’s really worth boarding the boat for the night! We saw dolphins not long after we set off, and we even saw seals playing beside the boat at night! The stars in the sky are so beautiful! The food on board was pretty good. I was lucky enough to catch up with the canoeing activity to watch the sunset, which was great!
