NIKKO PASS

We decided to purchase the physical Nikko Pass after reading that WiFi in Nikko can be unstable, and it was definitely the right choice. The connection really did drop in several areas, so having the physical pass to show the bus driver every time we boarded or got off made everything smooth and stress-free. I also noticed some passengers without the pass having small issues with their IC cards, which looked a bit inconvenient. The Nikko Pass saves time, avoids confusion, and is honestly such a good deal for the number of rides and areas it covers. Just a tip: Google Maps can be unreliable in Nikko, especially with bus timings, so it’s best to arrive at stops a little early. Overall, the Nikko Pass is a must if you want convenience and a much easier day exploring.

It was helpful. You still need this because you need a base fare ticket when you go to Nikko. We went to Tobu World Square and we had ¥1,000 discount which was a big help. You need a separate ticket though for the express train. I recommend the Spacia train! It was so nice

The Nikko Pass is very easy to purchase as a paper ticket at Tobu Asakusa; the process is quick. It covers the base fare from Tobu Asakusa to Tobu Nikko (if taking the Limited Express, you'll need to pay the Limited Express fare separately). It also offers unlimited rides on almost all buses within Nikko, a discount on the Akechidaira Ropeway, and a free cruise around Lake Chuzenji. It's a great value, especially for those staying in Nikko for several days and planning to visit multiple areas.

The All area Nikko 4 day pass is a great pass to have to explore Nikko from Tokyo. I bought the physical pass as I read that the electronic pass may be difficult to access in areas where the mobile data reception is poor. I redeemed the physical pass at the Tobu Asakusa tourist centre a day earlier and picked up some brochures as well. Arrived at the Tobu Nikko station and headed to the tourist information centre to get more local information. Remember to enquire about the Lake Chuzenji boat cruise schedule from the tourist information centre at the Lake Chuzenji bus starion as only certain boat cruise timings are free with the Nikko 4 day pass.

Wish I had done longer! Nikko is absolutely beautiful, and the Nikko pass shows you all they have to offer. We found it better to walk from the station along the Main Street, and caught the bus from up the hill near the bridge as the first stop can get a bit crowded! The buses come every half hour, so you hav enough time to see attractions and more. All tourists should use this pass, it takes the stress off knowing where to go and you can travel so easily!

Very convenient and a super saver if you plan to visit Nikko! I prefer this paper pass than the electronic one coz I read some reviews that internet sometimes was slow in some areas. Just make sure to get this at the Tobu Asakusa Tourist center at least a day before your trip so you will have enough time to get in line and not miss your train. This All Nikko Area Pass covers almost all destinations and you just have to present this to the driver as you get on and off the bus. Also give discounts to some attractions like the Ropeway. This does not cover the limited express train, so I paid for the Spacia X train and I love it! Once you get this pass, it will include some leaflets and map for Nikko information. And also the bus timetable which was very useful, because buses there sometimes take a while. I definitely recommend this pass to everyone.

bought and used for a daytrip but definitely much worth it if used for an overnight escapade at Nikko! easy to redeem and use. i just show it to the train station staff and bus staff then voila the rides are free :)

This 4-day Pass is definitely worth the money. Passengers traveling from Asakusa to and from Asakusa should buy it. I originally wanted to save the convenience of going to the Tobu Asakusa Service Center to pick up the pass, so I considered buying an electronic ticket, but because I was afraid of network problems, I bought a physical ticket. Fortunately, I made the right decision; the network signal in Okuniko was too poor, and I encountered many situations in the car where people were unable to display the screen due to the network, and the driver was accommodating and let them get on the bus first. The larger physical ticket can be folded into 3 pieces for easy putting in your pocket, and the expiration date is displayed to the driver when getting on and off the bus. There is no need to wait when you arrive at the Tobu Asakusa Service Center at 3 pm on October 28, 2024; you need to wait in line for half an hour at 11 am on October 30, 2024. If you need to get a physical ticket, it is best to get it the day before or earlier, otherwise you will miss it. The flight you want to take. (Purchase additional tickets if necessary). During the peak season, you must queue up in advance to wait for the bus back to the station. When the bus was full, I had to wait for another bus, and there was an extra hour of traffic jam. It took 140 minutes from queuing to returning to the station.

nikko is a big area. we take world heritage pass and it took us around 3 hrs with a local train. you can’t cover nikko with 1 day trip. during our trip, it was raining 🌧️. we only can cover 2 area, tobu world & shinjikyo bridge. wish we can plan it properly for nikko trip in the future.
