Timba-Timba, Mataking and Pom Pom Island Day Tour in Semporna

Great experience going to mataking and pom pom island. Couldn't stop at timba timba Island due to government restrictions, however we stopped over in an area to snorkel. The guide was very helpful taking photos for us, we saw many sea turtles yesterday and tropical fishes with beautiful coral reefs. Got to see a lion fish as well. We had a great once in a lifetime experience. Would recommend this tour!

Driver pick us up from hotel and punctual. The guide is able to speak english. The guys are friendly and has sense of humour. The lunch was simple but filling. For the hike, its worth it because of the stunning bohey dulang view but note to bring insect repellent as there are many mosquitoes. Bring a good pair of shoes. Not advisable for those who has difficulties walking as the hike can be abit steep. Water and towels are provided. The waters are clear and pretty. Can see fishes and overall, its a great and pleasant experience.

We booked a day tour to Mataking, Timba Timba and Pom Pom island. unfortunately, due to our stay at Kapalai, we couldn't take that route. instead we had to re-arrange our guided snorkeling tour to only Pulau Mabul and Kapalai. Pulau Mabul wasn't so great, too busy with many tourist and the water wasn't so clear for snorkeling, didn't see much underwater beauty. But Kapalai is the total opposite, it's worth all your money if you like the underwater world. The guide, James was excellent. The staff at Kapalai resort were very polite and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at Kapalai, Semporna, 3D2N.

Loved it loved it loved it. I would do it again. check in was easy. Instrutions for boat embarkment time were clear, the stuff checking us in was all smiles. The boat was great. They do small groups and we were comfy. We got to see schools of fish and tons and tons of sea turtles and amazing coral. I am not a strong swimmer or snorkler so the at first i got pulled with another lady by (MiaoMiao-not his real name but he made us laugh by making cat sounds and singing) Our guide Denish was an all star. He and miaomiao i think his real name is Bira or something, made the trip fun, eventfull and light hearted. On the second island i got the opportunity to snorkle being pulled by miaomiao and with his guidnce and following his movements was abe to snorkle without holding on to the bouy!! a great and patient teacher!! by the 3rd island i felt like a pro!

We had several issues, but their customer service replied promptly and politely. Overall, the experience on the islands was great. When we were snorkelling, the divers would help you take your camera to record videos and take your pictures. There can't be much that goes wrong with islands in Sabah. I think we were more blindsided by the fact that the tourism industry in Semporna caters heavily to tourists from China. So much so that the guide was speaking entirely in Mandarin, which we couldn't fully understand, and they didn't make an effort to communicate with us differently. However, we brought this up with their customer service, and after this, we took another 2 tours from them, and the experience got better. The other downside to these tours was that the first half of the day was filled with itineraries involving a lot of picture taking and sightseeing. Being with the tour from 9 am to 4.30 pm, we were only snorkelling from about 1 pm to 3.30 pm.

everything was good. only if pickup dropoff was offered it could have helped a lot. the snorkeling guide was crazy helpful and very talented. although they dont allow snorkeling without jackets. its fine because they ahve strict safety protocols. we got perfect weather even in late october. plus Yun sheng Travels who were our assigned tour team was very friendly & helpful, it was a nomadic ocean experience. They also offer scuba course for 140 Rm. I will be doing it under them next time for sure safety:

Since there are so many Chinese people visiting Malaysia, the non-Malaysian tour is a Chinese tour. But the guide is kind and explains things well and it's fun! I recommend it.

nice and safe trip, everyone is enjoyable. the lunch is clean and you need to pay CASH for entering the island.

The guys who organized the trip are very friendly and professional. No previous experience is required because they explain everything for beginners. The beach, especially Timba Timba, has white sand and turquoise waters. There's debris washed in by the tide, but there's no trash at all in the areas where we snorkeled. In fact, it was a unique experience; we saw turtles, starfish, fish of all types and sizes, corals, and so on.
