During the annual Chiang Mai Sky Lantern Festival, the entire city attracts tourists from all over the world. The entire event is worth enjoying the local traditional food and activities in Chiang Mai.
They are pretty responsive via email and informed me in the first place that this is not the CAD sky lantern activity (not sure why people are blaming this as a fake activity). The downside is I booked their regular seat which is priced higher than the premium option. The bus is quite alright although we were delayed like 1 hour due to slow check in process (the supervisor is late !!). Slightly smaller than what they informed me (600-800 people), but the snacks offered are nice - not the buffet dinner - which is meh (except the khao soi). Seat allocation are not monitored so people sit randomly. Furthermore, we are not dropped at Tha Phae Gate as per the itinerary, and skipped a temple called Wat Baan Den.
Premium wasn’t that good to buy. The seats at the event didn’t have the correct number, and everyone (not premium) sat randomly there. I only got 3 lanterns, and someone took 1 of my lanterns. I suppose I get 4 lanterns in total from premium. I still have a line to get inside the school. 🙃💔
The annual sky lanterns held by ten thousand people in Chiang Mai, the venue is far away from the ancient city, it is best to buy a plan that includes pick-up and drop-off. The ten-thousand-person sky lantern is very spectacular, and it is worth visiting in a lifetime.
Cons: Had a hard time looking for the agency. No visible signage at the pick-up point. Late departure thus some shows were already finished, no enough dinner/food left when we arrived at the venue. Pros: Transfer service was upgraded from red grab(minibus) to a van. Releasing of sky lanterns was so magical and a dream come true.
The traffic arrangement in MAYA is very chaotic. It is far from the venue, half an hour's drive, and there are many people. It is very dangerous to put sky lanterns, although sky lanterns and fireworks are very beautiful.
The event was very nice, not overcrowded but not small either, just the right amount of people for everyone to have the space to light up the lanterns.
It was such a beautiful night with all the set up. But with the standard tickets dont expect too much for the foods because when we arrived there werent much left and I couldnt find any meat. So may be prepare yourself some foods to bring to the camp
I had the pleasure of experiencing the shuttle service during my visit to Chiang Mai, and I must say, it was a delightful and comfortable experience. The convenience and comfort of the shuttle added an extra level of enjoyment to my journey. One of the highlights of my trip was attending the Lantern Festival in Chiang Mai. It was an absolutely beautiful event filled with mesmerizing lanterns and a vibrant atmosphere. The festival also showcased a wide variety of traditional food that was simply delicious. It's definitely a must-visit experience for anyone in Chiang Mai. The lanterns themselves were truly breathtaking. The colorful lights dancing in the night sky created a magical ambiance that I will always remember. It's a spectacle that should not be missed when visiting Chiang Mai. Overall, I highly recommend taking part in the Lantern Festival and indulging in the amazing traditional food. And with the comfortable shuttle service to enhance your journey, it will surely be an unforgettable experience in Chiang Mai!
VIP experience is well worth the ease in transport and catering alone. One of our seats were missing, but the staff quickly got us another one. Truly magical to see all the sky lanterns, however it is slightly chaotic and dangerous with the amount of clueless tourists eager to get their lanterns up.
