It was a great time and everytime we thought there couldn't be more to see there was so much more and it was all fantastic. We easily spent 4 hours wandering through and could have spent another hour if we didn't have to leave for dinner plans.
I always loved old locomotives and was thrilled to visit this museum, I was not disappointed ! They have many trains, old and relatively new, some of them have their control room open to the visit and they even offer a micro-trip with an old steam locomotive. If you are there at the end of the last trip, around 4PM, you will see the locomotive being put on a show before heading for the garage inside the museum. it’s a must see fornanyone loving trains or rmeven remotely interested in them, it’s interactive, shows everything related to the japan rail history and usage and is absolutely huge !
The place offers great fun & great learning knowledge even for young adults. Plenty of trains too see, plenty of interactive attractions & also information of the history of railway in Japan are there to learn about. However, do take in consideration that many of the information are in Japanese so need to QR for English Translation. That being said, for paid entrance fee it is still totally worth it & will be able to spend almost a day inside the premises to fully experience what is there to offer.
A must visit for train lovers! the museum is quite big, there is so much to see for young and old. There are older trains from the 30's up to 2000s. they have an outside area where they ride with steam locomotives, wich was very cool! There isn't much info in English but they tried.
Loved it!! Super nice experience esp with kids. Very informative. Overall, it was a great experience. Our family really enjoyed it, and it’s something worth trying at least once as a tourist. It was fun, and we were also able to take nice photos, which made the experience even better. May free pix din sila sa harap sa tapat ng train
The Kyoto Railway Museum is a delightful experience for all ages! The catering train lunch box is a highlight, bursting with flavor. Interactive exhibits and impressive trains keep everyone entertained. A must-visit for train enthusiasts and families looking for a fun, educational outing in Kyoto!
Great museum for railway fans - adults and children alike: Lots of impressive vehicles (especially in the large roundhouse) - but also lots of hands-on stations/experience corners: whether it's driver's cab simulation, using original driver's cabs or experiments on railway technology. The time in the museum went by very quickly 😁
