Join a unique Korean cultural experience in Seoul and discover the beautiful sound of the Gayageum, Korea’s traditional 12-string instrument.
During this 50-minute session, you will learn the basics of Gayageum playing in a relaxed environment. I will briefly introduce the instrument’s history and its role in Korean traditional music.
Then you will sit with your own Gayageum and learn simple techniques such as how to pluck the strings and create expressive sounds. Step by step, you will practice a short and easy melody and experience playing Korean music yourself.
This experience is beginner-friendly, so no musical background is required. At the end, you can take photos with the instrument and remember your special Korean music experience in Seoul.

I had a session with Hyoju and it was a very good introduction to Gayageum. Hyoju is very patient and speaks English well. The place is also clean and neat. The administrator also responds promptly to the reservation enquiry. Everything is very pleasant, just that if the price point of the course can be slightly better it will be good :)
As a beginner at playing the gayageum, I wasn't familiar with the practice song "Arirang." My teacher patiently and thoroughly taught me about the history of the gayageum and its scales, using a mix of English and Korean, which I really enjoyed. They are a kind teacher who encourages and helps you grow. At the end, I even got to record a video of my practice song on my smartphone, which was a bit embarrassing but became a memorable keepsake.
I had such a fun time during this experience! I learned so much and she was super patient and an amazing teacher
