What to expect
Sumo is considered Japan’s national sport, and some even say its history is older than Japan itself. It began as a Shinto ritual, inherited the spirit of Bushido, and still remains a vibrant part of Japanese culture today.
In this show, you’ll experience the power, tradition, and excitement of sumo up close. We’ll guide you through its rich history, sacred rituals, and signature techniques.
During the demonstration, you’ll see authentic sumo training, famous techniques (kimarite), and an intense one-round match (tachiai) between retired sumo wrestlers. For those who wish, there’s even a chance to step into the ring and challenge a sumo wrestler yourself (limited spots available).

My second-grade son recently became interested in sumo, so we booked a sumo experience and visited. It was close to the station and easy to find. Mr. Ryu and Mr. Kai's demonstrations were excellent, and the explanation of sumo history was very informative. My son absolutely loved the chance to compete against the sumo wrestlers at the end! He was the only child among the participants, and they raised his hand as the champion at the end, which made him incredibly happy! :) There were many foreigners, so the explanations were given in fluent English. However, as a Korean who is more comfortable with Japanese than English, I thought it would be great if the historical explanations were also available in other languages, like Korean, or even just in Japanese! Anyway, we had a wonderful time, and it was a valuable experience that was well worth the money! :)
I have always wanted to watch a sumo wrestling match, but this was a good start for us. We learned a lot about sumo history, got to meet retired sumo wrestlers, got to see them fight on the ring, and got to challenge them as well… it was really an awesome experience! our host was American, and knew very well about sumo history and the current time of sumo. we loved everything about it!!! we encourage everyone to do this since it’s a really great experience!
Very eventful and fun experience. Great history provided of sumo wrestling and where it comes from. You get a chance at the end to try to wrestle a sumo fighter. The presenter was very comical and explained everything very well. Deffo a must book if your first time in Japan! suitable for all!
An experience of a lifetime. I am so thrilled to have experienced an actual sumo bout and be a part of it by challenging a real sumo wrestler. For a little money that I paid (less than USD100), it was an honour for me. Any amount of thanx/appreciation is not enough towards the sumo wrestlers. My body is still sore after 2 days but I have earned that soreness and so bloody proud of myself. The only thing that I kind of din like was that everyone including Japanese people there, talks in the American accent and that kind of ruins the experience a little. Would have loved it more, had the people talk in Japanese English, making it more authentic. But I do understand, they don’t want to have the communication gap and provide a better experience for the ones who paid. All in all, this was an icing on the cake for me as I ended my Japan trip with the bout. Arigatou gozaimasu 🙏🏻
please perbook this experience as it was almost full.instructor:perfect safety:no issue of safety experience:superb location:very very easy bang of metro station.
