Reviews
Starting with a stroll through the market, this is a hands-on cooking class where everyone works together to prepare five dishes. It wasn't a tourist-oriented setup designed for "Instagrammable" photos, but rather a warm, homey atmosphere, like visiting a Vietnamese family and learning to cook from a friendly local girl. The vibe was less like a strict culinary school for professionals and more about having fun learning to make authentic Vietnamese home cooking, so you could participate without feeling any pressure. Unlike some classes where you just "finish pre-prepared ingredients (like a 3-minute cooking show)," it was great that we truly made everything we were going to eat ourselves. There was also a strong emphasis on hygiene; the cutting boards and knives used for raw pork were thoroughly washed after each use, which was reassuring (the restrooms were also perfectly usable). While some countries have very strict cooking classes, I felt that this warm and relaxed atmosphere was a unique charm of Vietnam. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to enjoy local daily life while also having a substantial cooking experience.
this was a fun and useful class. firstly, it was great that 1 person can enroll (most require min. 2 people). the class started off going to the nearby wet market to pick up some ingredients for our dishes. back at the house, Ngan (our instructor) explained what dishes we would be making and what ingredients were used. by the end of the class, we made salted vietnamese coffee, beef pho, bun cha, mango salad and deep fried vietnamese spring rolls. all turned out authentic tasting and delicious. i love this experience and I’ve already made the spring rolls since returning home and it turned out really good😅 Ngan is a great instructor, very patient in teaching us how to prepare and cook the food. I highly recommend this class. oh…there’s the sweetest resident kitty there😊
We had a wonderful cooking lesson with Lily and Hei! It was so fun to see the fruits, vegetables and meats in the market, and they explained all the different choices to us. the cooking school was a short walk from the market. I couldn’t believe that we were able to cook pho, meatballs, mango salad and also spring rolls in just 3 1/2 hours. everything was delicious and we had extra food leftover that we took home. It was a perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon in Da Nang! We were a group of 7 including a grandma and two college students. everyone loved it. expect lots of chopping!
The cooking class is held at a private residence, with the local market less than 10 minutes walk away. We started with a market tour to pick up fresh, local ingredients before heading back for the cooking class. Lily, our instructor, was friendly and guided us through the food preparation and cooking step by step, while also sharing plenty of useful cooking tips along the way. It was a very hands-on experience, and we had lots of fun preparing and cooking a delicious feast for ourselves. A great way to experience local Vietnamese food and learn how to cook it at home!
① You can experience shopping for ingredients in a traditional market and learning about them. ② From preparing ingredients and chopping vegetables to cooking, you'll personally complete every step, giving you a great sense of participation and accomplishment. ③ Teacher Lily is very kind and sincere, and she can use Chinese to help you understand the story behind Vietnamese cuisine. ④ The food is truly delicious and wonderful! 👍 ⑤ The teacher is very thoughtful. 💖 At the end of the activity, you'll receive a small recipe and a small certificate to take home as a souvenir.
Even tho I’m the only one in the class but the trainer didn’t shortcut things but made the class more personal and easier that made 3 hour session goes quickly. I really enjoyed the session and food is good. Recommended to go back again
It was a fun experience as we got to see their local markets, how they buy their groceries. We also asked about coffee and our guide went out of her way to help us. The cooking class itself was interesting. We exchanged ideas about cooking and life in Vietnam in general.
We had such an incredible experience at this cooking class. Ngan was an amazing teacher, so warm, knowledgeable, and made everything easy to follow while still being really engaging and fun. She also shared so many interesting facts along the way, which made the whole experience even more memorable. The food was absolutely delicious, and we got to try fresh ingredients and dishes we never would have experienced back home. It was especially interesting working with different produce that isn’t available in our country, which made the class feel unique and authentic. I normally don’t like coffee but I think I am hooked on the Vietnamese salty coffee now, so delicious! The market tour was also a highlight, such a cool and immersive way to learn about local ingredients and culture before cooking with them. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting
it was a really nice cooking class with a stroll to the nearby market. the host introduced us to different type of rice paper. we got the ingredients from the markt and went back to home base for cooking class. the local dishes are excellent. the host is excellent in dividing tasks for the group. it finished with a well-cooked meal!
One of the best ways to experience Vietnamese culture is to learn how to prepare their dishes and this gave us just that and more! Loved the part where our instructor, Blue, took us around the local market to buy the ingredients. Learned about the type of mango used particularly for salads, and different noodle types. Blue taught us to first make salt coffee (so we stay awake during class - clever and funny) then we started preparing the broth for the pho since it was the longest to make. My fave for this class is the Bun Cha! It’s a great experience and highly recommended for all visitors in Da Nang.
