Introduction to key exhibition areas
About Animage
"Animage" is Japan's first officially released commercial anime magazine, launched by Tokuma Shoten on May 26, 1978. As a pioneer in the anime magazine industry, it not only provides in-depth coverage of the stories behind the scenes of the works and industry trends, but also shares interviews with creators and production teams, coupled with a sneak peek of selected pictures, making fans scream with excitement. What’s special is that after “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” was adapted into an animated film, it became the opportunity for the birth of Studio Ghibli. Today, Animage magazine has been around for 45 years and is still an important bridge connecting animation works and fans.

◎The secret of the founding of Studio Ghibli is revealed!

Animage magazine has a deep connection with the founding of Studio Ghibli. In this exhibition, visitors will be able to get a glimpse of how "Animage" brought about the meeting of two animation masters, Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki, and how Toshio Suzuki played a key role behind the scenes, making the "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" animation a great success and a long-lasting box office hit.
◎The Birth of "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind"

In this exhibition area, visitors will be able to discover the birth story of "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" and learn about how "Animage" magazine gradually brought this work to the big screen from the serialization of the comics. From creative manuscripts to film production, we take you into the behind-the-scenes world of the birth of this legend.
◎Popular Nausicaa

This exhibition area will also allow you to take a close look at Nausicaa, the still popular protagonist of "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind". We specially exhibit her classic costumes in the Sea of Corruption, as well as the Giant God Soldier restored in proportion to the story, making you feel as if you are in this world full of fantasy and adventure.
◎The birth of "Castle in the Sky"
This exhibition area will take you back to 1985, the birth moment of Studio Ghibli. After the release of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, the studio released its first film, Castle in the Sky. At the time, Suzuki was both the magazine’s editor-in-chief and a member of Studio Ghibli, a dual role that made him a key figure in the animation industry.

In addition to special feature reports, the three-dimensional model of the flying ship designed by Hayao Miyazaki before the release of "Castle in the Sky" will also be exhibited for the first time. This 2-meter-long flying boat was once featured in Maxell's advertisements and is still intact 34 years later.
◎Worldwide first exhibition! Large-scale three-dimensional landscape, as if you are in the world of animation

The starting point of this area is the Totoro bus passing through the cover of "Animage" magazine, symbolizing that fans can personally walk into the animation scene to take photos, as if they are in the world of Ghibli's animation and leave precious memories. In order to perfectly present the unique atmosphere of Ghibli's popular animations, Studio Ghibli has specially sent a team of professional craftsmen to Taiwan to create an exclusive photo-taking scene that will be exhibited for the first time in the world! Including classic scenes from "My Neighbor Totoro", "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind", "Castle in the Sky" and "Kiki's Delivery Service", you can also become the cover character of the magazine, which is definitely not to be missed!
◎Not just Ghibli, but also driving the Japanese animation boom
In the second half of the 1970s, when the animation craze was at its peak, Animage fully supported popular TV animations such as Mobile Suit Gundam and Magic Angel, and launched many special features. A large number of manuscripts, precious original illustrations and posters from that year were also on display in this exhibition. You can also see miniature simulation scenes of Gundam models, allowing everyone to review the history of these works and feel the animation craze that still affects us today!

If you're a Ghibli fan, this exhibition is a dream come true! The interactive displays and life-sized Ghibli scenes made me feel like I’d stepped into one of the films! Booking through Klook was super easy, and skipping the ticket line was a huge plus. Definitely recommend for anyone who loves animation or just wants a little Ghibli magic!
Booking through Klook was a fantastic experience! The process was seamless, and there was absolutely no hassle upon entry to the exhibit. Everything was well-organized, and we were able to skip long lines, making our visit smooth and enjoyable. The convenience and efficiency of Klook made our trip stress-free. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a hassle-free way to book attractions!
We're so happy that the exhibition was still ongoing during our travel to Taiwan. As soon as I saw the activity on Klook, I booked it right away. Though there is no photobooth for Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, and some other Ghibli shows, the experience is still great.
videos were not allowed during the exhibition. I was a Studio ghibli fan since I was in highschool so seeing some of the characters in person really brings back memories. also thankful for the smooth transaction
The visit to the exhibition was absolutely great, the aisles are big enough not to step on each other. The content of the exhibition is very rich, lots of archives as well as photo booths. I recommend it!
#GHIBLIEXhibition#Animage magazine I grew up watching Ghibli, how could I miss such a great exhibition? There is a considerate audio guide and a large number of manuscripts and installation art that can be photographed. Whether you are interested in Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki, or the past, present, and future of animation, you can really start here. I got full of energy from the exhibition ❤️ Thank you for having Ghibli in my childhood & founders Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Toshio Suzuki, Yasuki Tokuma🫶《🌿Animage Magazine and Ghibli Exhibition》 ⏰ 2025/1/ 8- 2025/4/6
I just had a wonderful experience at the exhibition! I went there with my whole family, and we all loved it. The exhibition showcased everything from the history of Animage Magazine to the creations of Studio Ghibli. It was truly amazing, and we took lots of photos together. Unfortunately, most of the information in the exhibition is available only in Mandarin or Japanese, but there is an audio guide at the entrance for those who may have trouble with the language. Nonetheless, it is definitely worth your time to visit! Also, don’t miss the chance to get limited Studio Ghibli merchandise at the gift shop near the exit. You won't regret it!
The content of Studio Ghibli is almost entirely Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, with relatively few other animations. You can only take photos once and must be taken by a staff member. However, the photography skills of some staff members are appalling... If you want to take photos again, you can only go out and re-enter the venue. The souvenir shop is better than nothing for fans who have been to Mitaka Museum of Art and Ghibli Park. If you don't go abroad, it's also a good idea to go to Acorn Republic. The biggest advantage is that the photo-taking scenes are very sincere. Fans who love Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind or love taking photos must come here.
Tripods are prohibited on site, there are rich exhibits, and although there are many people who want to take photos in the main scenic area, there are sufficient staff on site to assist in taking photos (staff help to avoid tourists in the same group taking up too much time) and maintain queue order, so even if you go alone, you don't have to worry about no one to help you take photos. If the queue area is full, be prepared to wait for 40 to 60 minutes to take photos. For reference only
Buying tickets at Klook is similar to buying them on site, but you don’t have to queue, which saves time. The day we went was Saturday, so there were a lot of people. I bought the tickets in advance from klook so I didn't have to worry about it. There were so many things to see in the exhibition. First there was the Animage exhibit, then there were a lot of things from Studio Ghibli, and there were a lot of manuscripts on display, which was really dazzling.
