Traveler reviews
I have visited the museum multiple times. Other than the regular exhibitions, there are special exhibitions that the museum came up with from time to time. In fact, there are so many exhibits that one cannot cover in just one visit. The audio guide is helpful! With Klook booking, one can enter directly with the QR code.
We used the Korean audio guide at the National Palace Museum, and I think other languages would be the same way, entering numbers... but there were many things without numbers, and the famous Dongpo pork wasn't there. The cabbage was on display, but there was no number written on it, but my daughter accidentally pressed 333 and the explanation came on, haha. If you just walk by without an explanation, you wouldn't know what it is, so we used the audio guide, but it wasn't very helpful and it was hard to concentrate. It would be more convenient and faster to look at it with a translator.
The National Palace Museum (NPM) in Taipei is an absolutely mandatory visit for anyone interested in history or art. The curation is superb, but make sure to prioritize the most famous treasures: • The Jadeite Cabbage: A delicate, lifelike Qing Dynasty jade carving. • The Meat-Shaped Stone: An astonishing piece of jasper carved to perfectly resemble braised pork. • The Mao Gong Ding: An incredibly important bronze vessel with the longest known bronze inscription. Plan for a few hours to explore the impressive range of ceramics, bronzes, and calligraphy. It's a captivating and highly educational experience! experience: ease of booking on Klook: service: price:
Extensive Collection: The National Palace Museum houses nearly 700,000 precious artifacts, covering five thousand years of Chinese history, from the Neolithic period to the Qing Dynasty, including calligraphy, paintings, porcelain, jade, bronzes, and rare treasures. These collections are not only impressive in quantity but also of world-class quality, leaving visitors in awe. Treasures of the Museum: The Jadeite Cabbage, Meat-shaped Stone, and Mao Gong Ding are known as the three treasures of the National Palace Museum. Although the Jadeite Cabbage and Meat-shaped Stone may occasionally be on loan or rotated for display, the museum regularly changes exhibits to provide new surprises with each visit. Exhibition Planning: In addition to permanent exhibitions, the National Palace Museum frequently holds special themed exhibitions, such as the recent "Players and the Game: Ancient Weiqi Culture" and "The Enchanting Rococo: Treasures from the National Palace Museum," allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of specific areas of history and culture. Comfortable Environment: The interior environment of the National Palace Museum is very well-maintained, with spacious areas and clear traffic flow, making the visiting experience very comfortable. In addition, the museum actively incorporates digital technology, using multimedia interactive exhibitions to make cultural relics more interesting and accessible to modern visitors.
So many artefacts to see and so much history to learn. Each item has a description and catalogued to a dynasty. It is impressive and worth a visit. Try to spend at least 3 hours here. Eat and drink well since there is only a cafe before checking in the and the queue is long. ease of booking on Klook:5/5 get here instead of at the museum. The QR code generated can be scanned at entrance.
Wide variety of artifacts. You can easily spend half a day as it’s three whole floors of exhibit. Transport was also manageable, just get off at exit 1 of shilin station, walk to the bus stop and take R30 which stops at the basement of the museum. Good cultural activity to have in between of your itinerary.
It was more expensive to buy it on site, so I bought it through Klook, and it was good that I was able to use it cheaply! It's one of the top 5 museums, and it's a place where you can't help but be amazed by the many rare pieces inside! It was better to go with a tour guide rather than rent an audio guide, because the Korean guide told stories about the era in front of the pieces❣️ I didn't see the Dongpo pork, but it was amazing to see the cabbage with my own eyes😊
The museum is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. You could walk through in just about 2 hours or spend longer if you want a more in-depth experience. We had a small discount on the tickets and it was easy to use (simply show QR code at entry), and we had a great time. Would definitely recommend.
