Train from Nagoya to Gero is within JR Station, platform 11. If you have large luggage, do take note main access to platform is by staircase. look for sign near you that says shinkansen, follow sign, you will be on the opposite side of platform 10/11, where there is escalators you can use. Hida 5 only had 6 cars, it only had cars numbered 5 to 10, so you need to adjust on platform where to stand and board the right car. suitcase area is located at the far end of each car (furthest away seats 1A/1B), however if you are seated 1A/B/C/D, there is some space behind your seats for cabin bags. soba station available on platform 11 if you need a hot bowl of soba before boarding. enjoy the ride!

Nagoya Station is quite large, so I had a bit of trouble finding the ticket vending machine that issues pre-ordered tickets using a QR code. The best and most reliable way is to ask a crew member at the entrance to help you find the QR ticket machine.
