Solo stay

A hidden gem in Bhaktapur . If you wish to explore Bhaktapur and enjoy Newari architecture and hospitality, this is the place . Very nice view from the roof top . And the owner is amazing.

Great
This is a central hotel just steps from Durbar Square. It is in the historical district. It is a basic hotel, kept very clean and the rooms are small but sweet. The owners are very friendly. I didn't go to the roof terrace but I understand there was one. The beds are small but comfortable and the shower was hot. Location was ideal. The stairs to the room are narrow but they kindly helped us with our luggage. We had breakfast one day and ate out the next as we didn't enjoy it but it was sufficient for $3.

I booked a double room wiry breakfast included for one night via Expedia. When we arrived we were told that we had to go to the neighbouring hotel (2 stars vs 3stars at Tulaja which we booked), and were shown to a small damp and dusty room. I went back to Tulaja and conplaned as I had specifically booked a room at Tulaja and already paid. One staff member tried to say that the other hotel was better, which it clearly wasn't. In the end, we were told ww could get a room at Tulaja after all, so after waiting an hour for them to clean it we finally checked in. Twice two different members of staff tried to charge us for breakfast again even though I had already paid for this. On the positive side, we saw some of the other rooms which are quite nice, I guess we were just unlucky to be put in the smallest. The kitchen staff were lovely and the breakfast was fine. But we left feeling unhappy with our stay overall, and do mot feel that their three stars or "boutique" name matched our expectations as per their website.

First of all no hot water, barely luke-warm water doesn't count. There was black mold on the ceiling and wall of the bathroom. Food was okay. The "airport shuttle" was a rickety van that the exhaust was going into the back seat. Really the only nice thing about this hotel is the location. Couldn't beat that.

Fantastic
Satya, his family, & staff are highly responsive to customer needs, and do an outstanding job providing a genuine, family-run accommodation for visitors. It has a great atmosphere, phenomenal buffet-style home-cooked meals, and passion for customer satisfaction. Very clean, traditionally decorated, and no sign of any earthquake damage. Satya and his team exude a real passion for ensuring their guests each have an optimal travel experience.
