Good
The hotel's exterior is stunning, and the property has a great deal of historic charm. However, there were several aspects of our stay that fell short of what we would expect from a five-star hotel. The water pressure in the bathroom was very low, making showering difficult. Given the number of guests, the front desk was also slow to respond to requests. During housekeeping service, our towels were not replaced, and the property can be quite noisy, with hallway noise easily heard from inside the room. I understand that this is a historic building, which can make certain upgrades more challenging. However, considering the price of the room, we expected better water pressure and more attentive housekeeping service. Edinburgh is an extremely busy tourist destination, so I recognize that accommodating the high volume of guests can be difficult. That said, the hotel may want to consider adjusting staffing levels to better match demand.

Fantastic
The Caledonian is an absolutely fantastic place to stay! Centrally located near the castle and the Royal Mile. It is a great place to lay your head at night, wake up in the morning, enjoy a nice Scottish breakfast, then get out and explore the city of Edinburgh. Joseph at the front desk, did an outstanding job and made sure that my stay was worry free! The entire Bell Staff was fantastic and they have a wit and sense of humor that is unparalleled! I highly recommend the Caledonian to all when traveling to Edinburgh!

It was by far the worst hotel stay we’ve ever had, and we’re frequent travelers. The air conditioning wasn’t working, the staff was extremely rude and indifferent, and they showed little to no concern for their guests. Overall, it was a very disappointing and upsetting experience.

Great
The hotel is a beautiful old property that is worth the stay. I utilized the spa and it was a nice experience though pricy. The property is located in the West End and while the area is walkable and has restaurants, it is a bit of a walk to Old Town. Uber and taxies are readily available.
