Over the years I have stayed in many hotels but never one as bad as this. I booked last minute and there was little choice but at ÂŁ167 for 1 night I expected more than a bare dirty room with zero amenities. No kettle, no wifi, no toiletries apart from some diluted hand wash. The bedding was clean but he room itself was appaling. There was a marble fireplace which would have looked grand at one time but was now covered with ingrained dirt from years of neglect. The walls, doors and 'furniture' were in a similar state. It appeared that not a penny had been spent on maintenance or repairs for many many years. On the website the front of the hotel looked grand and appealing but in reality the outside now looks just like the inside, grimey and neglected. A place to avoid.

The cold tap in my room wouldn’t work, when I brought this up, the staff told me to use communal one in bathroom. Chair in room and wall stained. Soap was a half used bottle from previous stay. Toilet wouldn’t flush. No air con, which isn’t a surprise in a UK hotel, but it was 32C and the hotel had no fans. The man in the front desk was nice though.

Poor rooms with bad quality beds, carpet was coming off, water was barely running and not fan in the room. Had low expectations given the price, but I was surprised by the low standards.

No running cold water from sink tap, sink and shower broken, no soap provided, mould and stains all over the curtains. TV but no control, asked for a control and they said no, the TV is in the rooms but you can't use them. 32° heat and couldn't provide a basic fan.

Filthy Hotel, NO amenities, used toilet paper on bathroom floor, This hotel needs a visit from the health Department and removal from Hotels.com. This may be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I am 75. This of course comes at an exorbitant price. DO NOT STAY HERE

First off, the staff that work there are great. They were all very polite and helpful. The location is also amazing for a tourist holiday. You stay right were the city center offers the best attractions, like the British Museum. The hotel itself is in terrible condition. Everything everywhere seemed not just dirty, but with caked on grime that had been there for years. There is no air conditioning at all so the summer is miserable. My room had a shared bathroom with toilets that did not flush, a shower with a wooden floor and a vibe from a horror movie. The room I had was only big enough for one person but I was alone so the small size was not a problem. But everything you look at is either a little dirty, a little broken, or both. It’s actually a nice building if the owner were to close down for a few months, take a renovation loan, modernize everything, they could easily reopen and call it a youth hostel instead of a hotel. They’d make a lot of money. As it is, in peak tourist season the hotel felt barely occupied. So the terrible conditions and cheapness of the owner is definitely losing them revenue.

Genuinely gross, toilet unclean and bed sheets dirty, overpriced and would never stay here again.
