GreatStayed with kids
We enjoyed our stay at the Garrison. The location was convenient and the space was great for our family of 5. The Garrison is just a quick walk away from the main street with restaurants, tourist shops, and a grocery store. It is also not a far walk from the Cow Hill trail. The apartment was clean and cozy. There is a washer/dryer but you will have to provide your own laundry detergent. We left our container behind for the next visitors. Having some on-hand for travelers would be helpful so as to not have to purchase a large container. This was of no fault of the Garrison, but we did not have WiFi while we were there. I hope this issue has been rectified for those who might need WiFi for work and to stay connected to loved ones. Overall, we had a great stay and would rebook again with the Garrison.

GoodStayed with family
We had a very pleasant stay at The Garrison. The hotel was clean, well-maintained, and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were nicely presented, and the overall atmosphere was much more modern than many hotels in the area.
The only downside was the parking situation. There is no dedicated parking, and during our stay there were dumpsters, construction equipment, and machinery nearby due to ongoing work in the area, which made arrival and parking a bit inconvenient.
That said, the cleanliness, comfort, and service made for an enjoyable stay. I would happily stay here again and would recommend it to others visiting the area

GreatStayed with family
This place was perfect and location was great to get around the area. Rooms were clean and extra touches in the rooms were nice. My only complaint is that we stayed in the newly built second building. Although it was quiet and rooms were tidy…we were travelling with my in-laws who are seniors. We were on the third floor floor and it is all stairs to get up there. It is not accessible any other way and that is an important consideration when booking your stay. The staff did not show us to our rooms and said go outside the main building walk to the side and then behind the building so that too could have been very helpful.

Extremely frustrating stay. The hotel advertises free parking, but they’ve given most of the spots to a construction company. We were told we could not park in construction spots. We couldn’t even turn around in the small parking lot. We had to back down the road, then pay for parking out of pocket. When we asked the hotel to remove the parking charges from our bill, they refused. The room was decent, but construction noise started at 7:00 AM sharp. Would not stay here.

Good They said parking lot would be open after June 1, but it’s nowhere near open from the look of the construction. They said west end car park was open, a 2 minute walk to the hotel, but that parking lot was closed for paving. Upon checking in, there was a list of 3 other parking places shown on a piece of paper, we asked if there was one specific spot she might recommend, and she said “I don’t know anything about parking.” We went to the first spot on the list and there wasn’t any public parking. We then drove around more and finally parked on a street in the neighborhood. Breakfast cost 12 pounds per person so we didn’t have breakfast at the hotel but ate at a small coffee shop right across the street. The room was clean and ok.

Overpriced! Hard to locate registration desk. Lady at registration was rushed and gave unclear instructions. Had to go outside, around the building, through a blocked off construction zone and carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs - NO elevator/lift. Told same lady at checkout how inconvenient it was and all she said was, “We said we have construction and we sent you an email.” That information merely said, “We have construction that will cause disruption during daytime hours and we will try to keep it to a minimum.” NOTHING about trudging through a dirt construction zone with luggage and no elevator! Should have received a discount but none was offered. BEWARE!

We were promised parking as was written in the review. There was none. ( there were 6 total spots for ENTIRE HOTEL! ) We had to park blocks away and PAY for offsite parking. The directions to the parking were terrible. Not comped for anything for parking or room or a simple apology. We requested again the next morning still nothing. This was the priciest hotel (we paid 350) on our entire journey across Scotland. Would not recommend. Rooms were tiny, THE TINIEST ROOM on our journey. The area was shady as well didn’t feel safe or clean, loved our other stays in our route gave good reviews to others . Glad we only stayed one night, please pick a different hotel. There was one right next to it that looked so much better kept up.

The staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. Unfortunately, I do not feel the hotel offered good value for money. At around £200 per night without breakfast included, I expected more. The lack of on-site parking was disappointing, especially as we had to pay to park around five minutes away and walk in the rain. There was also construction work taking place during our stay, which affected the experience.
Another concern was the room carpet, which appeared to have dog hair on it. As someone with a dog allergy, this was uncomfortable and disappointing, particularly as I believe my allergy was mentioned when booking.
I did not complain during my stay as I did not have the energy, but overall I do not feel the experience justified the price paid. The staff were fantastic, but improvements to parking, cleanliness, communication about building works and overall value for money would make a significant difference.

Good The location was great and the beds were comfortable. Close to restaurants and grocery, able to walk. Everything was clean and maintained. They even had a travel cot set up for my little guy. Only complaints were the parking and the fact that our building was in a separate building at the back of the property and only accessible by stairs. It was inconvenient because you had to haul your bags from the front as it was closed off to driving. The parking lot had minimal stalls and you had to park a half block away and pay.

The fact that you cant park there is annoying. It was clean and the staff was good.
