Things to do in Lake Pukaki

What an incredible experience. Scott is such a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and cheerful. The hike was around 1.5 hour with lots of time stopping for pictures, so it was not as physically demanding as expected. The glacier is truly mesmerising, it is one of the best memories I have made in NZ!

Highly recommended itinerary! 👍👍 The birthplace of bungee jumping was closed due to snow, so we immediately rerouted to the Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge lookout. We passed through a fruit town, visited Lindis Pass, and had lunch at a salmon farm, where there were many delicious meal options. We saw the milky blue Lake Pukaki and finally arrived at Mount Cook to see the Tasman Glacier, marveling at the beauty and grandeur of nature. The entire round trip was about 11 hours. A big thank you to our private guide, Vera, for the full tour, photos, and explanations. This is a highly recommended itinerary and set of attractions.

must-try experience to go for despite being on the pricier side. Got to see breathtaking views of Mount Cook. We were lucky to be the first one on at 10am, you will need to arrive earlier at 9.45am and go through a safety briefing. the landing on the snow was done very safely and smoothly, snow was still knee deep. Overall 10/10 experience.

This was an amazing experience. Andy was a great guide and tour operator - he shared a lot of historical facts about New Zealand and Mt Cook (Aoraki). He gave us recommendations on which walking trails to do, had a nice time management - it was a long ride but was very comfortable and insightful. The views of Lake Pukaki and Aoraki and around is stunning, it is all worth the day trip.

This would be by far my best tour ever! And I get to have the front seat during the trip. Our tour guide and driver by the name of Jason - he is nothing but awesome and very cool during our entire trip. He is very knowledgeable and knows Queenstown, Aoraki Mount Cook and other places we've been to very much. I also miss that music playlist that you have, Jason. Lol. Anyway, I joined the Mount Cook and Tasman Glacier tour. We had a couple of stopovers wherein we were able to take photos and selfies especially during the drive to Mount Cook. The view there was nothing but Amazing! He also shared about the story of Shrek the sheep. Snacks and water provided and he kept us well fed and hydrated. I cannot recommend Cheeky Kiwi Travel enough and especially Jason who made the trip, us his passengers safe and relaxed and enjoyed this whole excursion. I will surely book my future travels soon with Cheeky Kiwi. Cheers!

One of the most comfortable and well curated travel tours. Pick-up from my hotel to the destination with enough time to eat lunch and enjoy the view.

I really love the trip. We had enough time to take lots of pictures without feeling rushed at every landmark. Unfortunately, I went the wrong way so I didn’t see the glacier. Overall I would say the tour guy is really knowledgeable. We booked a Queenstown to Christchurch transfer tour for June 26th. From the start, communication was seamless; the reception team quickly answered all pre-trip questions and sent helpful safety reminders. Everything was perfectly well-prepared. The driving was exceptionally safe. Our morning guide was high-energy, sharing great local stories. The guides clearly love their jobs and the NZ landscape, taking us to secret viewpoints with plenty of photo time. Their boss even called ahead during the trip to check road conditions after recent snow—a thoughtful touch. They also saved our day at Mt Cook by providing ice spikes when we realized our running shoes weren't enough, alongside water and snacks. The transition to the next leg was seamless. The lady who took over was highly responsible, ensuring we forgot nothing and waiting with us. Finally, our Christchurch driver safely dropped everyone off right at their respective hotels on time.
