Fantastic 5.0
I booked the Winery & Foodie Tour last Saturday on a bit of a whim, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my stay in New Zealand. A big shoutout to Phil, our tour guide, who made the whole experience smooth, informative, and fun. He shared great stories about the region and made everyone feel comfortable throughout the day. We visited lovely spots around Martinborough and enjoyed artisan cheese, chocolates, great food, and of course wonderful wines. As someone visiting wineries for the first time, it was such a memorable introduction to the local wine culture. What made the tour even better was the small group. I was joined by a lovely couple and another companion whose warm company made the day relaxed and enjoyable. As a solo traveler, I truly appreciated it. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a relaxing and delicious day tour!

Fantastic 5.0
Mike, our tour guide, made the trip fun and enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable about New Zealand and shared lots of interesting information along the way. We visited many great places and enjoyed tasting local cheeses, chocolates, and wines. We also got to see Rivendell, the lighthouse, and the seals at Cape Palliser. The tour was very comfortable, and the vehicle was clean and well maintained.

Using the Klook Pass New Zealand was one of the best decisions during my trip. It turned out to be a big money saver. I wanted to do several activities but was worried about the weather. Fortunately, the pass offers flexible cancellation, which made planning much easier. For example, I cancelled my Glowworm Cave tour two days in advance and rebooked another time when the weather was better. The booking and cancellation process was very quick and simple. I used the pass for Shotover Jet in Queenstown, whale watching in Kaikōura, and the Glowworm Cave in Rotorua. Overall, the savings were significant—it basically felt like one activity was free. The only thing to keep in mind is making sure you use all the activities before leaving New Zealand and check the weather so you can adjust your bookings if needed. If you’re planning to do multiple activities, this pass is definitely worth it and saves a lot of money.

Overall an outstanding tour with a lot of good information and great to see all those filming locations for LOTR. Our guide was Robin who was an extra throughout the three movies and it was fun hearing his perspectives and talking with someone who was really in the thick of the movie making experience. The van was comfortable and the props were a nice touch to make photos a bit more memorable. Highly recommend this tour and this company.

What to know before visiting Wellington

Wellington at a glance

Wellington is a compact capital where tours, cruises and water-based activities dominate visitor bookings, and the city’s rhythm swings noticeably through the year. Klook booking data show a strong summer peak and much quieter winter months, so attractions and experiences cluster around that high season.

Best time to visit and price patterns

Klook data identify January as the peak month for demand, while August sees the lowest booking activity. Prices drift across the year: they’re highest around January and fall through autumn to a low point—Klook bookings typically show April as the cheapest month. If you want lower prices and smaller crowds, aim for April or the quieter winter months; if you prefer peak-season atmosphere and livelier events, January offers the busiest vibe. Demand and prices broadly move together here, with the busiest month also typically among the priciest.

Tips for travellers from Hong Kong

Most travellers book Wellington experiences about four days ahead, with many last-minute options available a day before travel—this makes short-notice plans quite doable. If you’re visiting in January, consider booking earlier (around three weeks) for popular tours and cruises; in quieter months you can be more flexible and still find good options on Klook.
