If you have been keeping a close eye on the Bridgerton series since its first debut in 2020, you would have known by now that the new prologue to the Bridgerton series “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” is out and has gained the attention of the town. This story of fiction inspired by fact won the hearts of many with its splendid storyline displaying the undying love between King George III and Queen Charlotte. It’s no doubt that the limited series is trending as the top series on Netflix and well-loved across social media.
Let’s relive the events that took place in the lives of King George III and Queen Charlotte by visiting the landmarks where their passion and fire as a couple posed a lot of heartache and longing for another season of their story.

1. Buckingham Palace

Buckingham House (now known as Buckingham Palace)
Your majesty King George III bought Buckingham House (now known as Buckingham Palace) in 1761 for his wife Queen Charlotte and his 13 children as a comfortable family home. It was chosen due to its proximity to St James's Palace, where many court functions were held. Buckingham House became known as the Queen's House.
Buckingham Palace still stands today as a working royal palace that opens its doors to tourists seasonally. Explore the Queen’s residence and delight in the ever-regal displays and rooms where one can only imagine to be situated. We heard that the next available dates for an exclusive tour for the Palace this summer 2023 are Friday, 14 July to Sunday, 24 September. Book in advance for the best value!

2. Blenheim Palace

If you have felt the sense of melancholy and heartache throughout the series, you would be very well aware that this is the spot where the couple had their first heartache. Tis’ the very first landmark post their wedding night at the footsteps of the Palace, when King George III (Farmer George) decided that it was best to keep her away from him.

In the series, Blenheim Palace is known as the Buckingham Palace where Queen Charlotte resided alone while the King tried his best to ‘cure’ his illness to be with her. Ah, what intense love and deep passion.

3. Hampton Court Palace

Does the aerial shot of Hampton Court Palace in the image above invoke any sense of familiarity? At the start of a scene or beginning of a Bridgerton series, you would notice the exterior of Hampton Court Palace just before the author dives into the story. And since Queen Charlotte is part of the series itself, Hampton Court Palace continues to be the limelight of this series.

To represent Buckingham House, many scenes were also shot at other famous landmarks such as Belton House, and Hatfield House which we will talk more about as you read on!

4. Kew Palace

Relieve the true events of King George & Queen Charlotte's story

As per the Netflix series, this was where the King decided to isolate himself while he took drastic measures to ‘cure’ his illness. However, history says that both King George III and Queen Charlotte lived here together. This was their home. It differs from the series where the Queen pleaded her husband to head back to Buckingham Palace to live with her.

5. Belton House

However, since Kew Palace was too small for the shoot, Belton House's iconic residence was used for filming instead. A bonus point was also because it represented King George III’s observatory and beloved garden which he showed great interest in astrology, the stars, the heavens and Venus of course.

Most interior scenes of Kew Palace were filmed at Belton House and the scenes shot outside of the queen’s abode were filmed in Waddesdon Manor.

Still standing today, the St James Palace is one of the oldest royal palaces in London. It remains the official London royal palace and it’s not regularly open to visitors. However, the public is open to attend Sunday services at the Chapel Royal and the Queen's Chapel. This building has been used regularly since 1702 and remains as the most commonly used facility today!

7. Merton College

The landmark where one of our many favorite scenes was shot. It was such an adorable encounter that the royal couple had before the wedding and those scenes have been filmed at the Hatfield House Garden! This eye-gawking place has also been used for TV shows and films like The Crown and Harry Potter!

9. Waddesdon Manor

The scenes between Violet Bridgerton’s father (Lord Ledger) and the ever-glowing Lady Danbury are filmed against the grand backdrop of Waddesdon Manor in Buckinghamshire. Remember Lady Danbury’s solo walks around her estate that became frequent after her favorable encounter with Lord Ledger? Yup, those were filmed at the area surrounding Waddesdon Manor.
