Pirate caves, safari tents and adventure playground: enjoy an action-packed getaway at Saiyuen Camping & Adventure Park on Cheung Chau

If adventure is calling your name, look no further than the island of Cheung Chau. It’s here that according to the legend, the famous Cheung Po Tsai pirate used to hide his treasures (no treasure has been found yet but you can visit Cheung Po Tsai Cave to try your luck).
Saiyuen Camping & Adventure Park is the perfect base for an action-packed family holiday on the island. With a giant 11-acre outdoor adventure playground and four different types of glamping experiences, there’s something for kids of all ages here.

    One-of-a-kind glamping experience

    Saiyuen mongolian ger
    Mongolian Ger
Saiyuen Camping & Adventure Park consists of six themed areas that provide different glamping experiences. Monglian Ger gives you a unique chance to stay in Mongolian round huts, known as ger. Outfitted with two double beds, dome skylight, a picnic table, BBQ stove, the all-important air-conditioning and private bathroom, it will be perfect for a small family of three to four. You can pick between medium ger (approx. 200 square feet) or large ger if you need more space (approx. 310 square feet).
Dreaming of an African safari? Then you’ll love this African Safari Tent glamping option! Choose from a medium tent (for four), a large tent (for six) or an extra large tent (larger version for six). All tents have a terrace, perfect for those African-style sundowners, and air-conditioning. The extra large tents, however, do have their own private shower and toilet. If you stay in medium or large tents, be prepared to use the shared shower and toilet facilities!

For the most luxurious glamping experience, the Stargazing Geodesic Dome option will exceed expectations. As the name suggests, these unique domes are designed specifically for viewing the star-blanketed night skies (although day views are spectacular too!) Though it is situated in a fairly secluded area of the complex, guests need not worry as the accommodation comes with all glamping essentials and more - such as air conditioning, a private bathroom, a comfortable seating area, double beds, and a picnic area to name a few.

Alternatively, you can opt to upgrade to the Sunset Vista Geodesic Dome and enjoy a bigger private area with hammocks and a bonfire pit (sounds like the perfect place to roast some marshmallows while watching the sunset!) This is Hong Kong glamping at its best.

More than just another camping site

There are enough activities at Saiyuen Camping & Adventure Park to keep the whole family entertained from breakfast to dinner. And best of all: they’re all outdoors, no screens involved!
Is your family competitive? Play a fierce match of Bubble Soccer, a game much like your traditional soccer but with a twist - all players must wear the hilarious inflatable bubbles, making the match even more challenging.
Alternatively, older kids will love the Tree Top Canopy Walk, an adventure playground with cargo bridges, swinging beams and ziplining (suitable for children aged 12 and up). For the little ones (aged 4-11) supervised “Climbing Monkeys'' is the perfect introduction to safe climbing.

The fun doesn't end there! Disc golf or cornhole, art workshops, cooking lessons and even a goat pen (with some seriously adorable residents) are available for all guests to enjoy! You can reserve these additional activities through Saiyuen’s website. And don’t forget that you get 15% off for all activities in Saiyuen when you book your glamping adventure on Klook!

Exhausted and happy, end the day with a glorious BBQ. The Sunset Vista and Mongolian Ger come with a BBQ grill free of charge. Otherwise, BBQ stove and freestanding BBQs are easily available to rent from the venue.

    Discover Cheung Chau

Activities within Saiyuen Camping & Adventure Park are just the start. There is so much to discover on the island! Start by hiking The Cheung Chau Family Trail to get your bearings. It’s an easy 1.2km trail with no major climbs but the views are so satisfying. Make sure to pay a visit to the famous pirate cave, Cheung Po Tsai Cave, but bring a flashlight and proceed carefully, it gets very dark inside.

If you’re up for more adventure, you can hire windsurfers, kayaks or SUPs from the Cheung Chau Windsurfing Centre. An even more unique way to enjoy the island is heading out on a serene night paddle in Cheung Chau - you may get lucky and spot the bioluminescent algae in the sea!

Or simply grab a couple of the famous buns, lay your towel down on the sandy beach and settle in for a lazy afternoon of swimming and sunbathing. The laid-back atmosphere of Cheung Chau is hard to beat!

How to get to Saiyuen Camping & Adventure Park

You can get to Cheung Chau by taking a ferry from Central Pier No. 5 (ordinary ferry takes 55-60 minutes, fast ferry takes 35-40 minutes). Tip: if you tend to get seasick, go for the ordinary ferry which is more stable.
From Cheung Chau pier, make a right turn towards the Municipal Services Building and take a scenic 20-minute walk along the coast to Tsan Tuen Road. Walk up the hill until you reach the entrance gate.
Alternatively, you can rent one of the many bicycles on offer and take advantage of free bicycle parking at Saiyuen Camping & Adventure Park. Note that tricycles are not permitted to park there.
