Okinawa Surfing Experience

Although I am a beginner in surfing, I was able to ride some good waves with the warm water temperature unique to Okinawa and the guidance of a friendly instructor! I am very satisfied. I was able to find it here in Crook, so payments and contact with the school were very smooth. The instructor is a professional surfer who was originally competing, and is a nice guy who was attracted to Okinawa and moved from Kanto. I didn't have the impression that I was a surfer, and I was polite and good at teaching. (+ It was a great handsome guy) When I checked before traveling, Okinawa has a reef (coral reef) on the seabed and the beach is shallow, so it is suitable for surfing, but it is shallow unless the ebb and flow of the tide is around high tide. I found that it was too much to surf. So I decided to ask a detailed local surf school for lessons. The high tide of the day started around 16:00 and the lesson started at 16:30. Since I was staying at a hotel in Naha city, I was picked up by the van shown in the photo and moved to the school base in about 30-40 minutes. After changing clothes there, I moved to the beach again for about 5 minutes by car. The waves were very small on the day, but it was a weekday and it was vacant, so I was able to take lessons with plenty of time. After enjoying surfing in the sunset for about 2 hours, I returned to school, took a warm shower, changed my clothes, and had them pick me up at the hotel. On the way, I was able to talk with the owner who happened to be there (this was also dandy and handsome) and it was a very good experience. When I come to Okinawa next time, I will definitely make a reservation with Crook again, thank you!

The surfing spot has a lot of rocks and moss, so you have to fall often to avoid getting hurt. You don't need to bring a full-body suit and water shoes, as they are provided. You have to bring a towel separately.

The instructor was very experienced. Although he didn't talk much, he gave sharp suggestions on surfing movements, which helped me improve my surfing skills. It was a fantastic experience! We had never been on a surfboard before, but by the end, we were able to catch several waves very well. The necessary steps were explained to us very clearly.
