Located at the western tip of the West Kowloon Cultural District, The Hong Kong Palace Museum presents several hundred priceless treasures from the Palace Museum. Many of them are on display in Hong Kong for the first time, while others have never been shown to the public before. Embracing new curatorial approaches, the Museum will offer a Hong Kong perspective and a global vision, and regularly presents special exhibitions featuring Chinese art and culture, as well as art and treasures from other parts of the world.
Nine Galleries at a Glance
The Hong Kong Palace Museum contains a total of nine galleries, each hosting thematic exhibitions. In the Opening Exhibition, five of the nine galleries will host exhibitions that dive into a wide range of topics related to the Palace Museum, including its architecture, art collections (including paintings, calligraphies, ceramics and art objects), cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries in the Ming and Qing dynasties, court life and culture, as well as the museum’s role in intangible cultural heritage transmission. Two other galleries will feature Chinese art collections from Hong Kong along with multimedia installations from Hong Kong artists inspired by palace culture. The Museum regularly presents special exhibitions featuring Chinese art and culture, as well as art and treasures from other parts of the world.

Special Exhibition
Gallery 8: “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Treasures of the Mughal Court from the Victoria and Albert Museum” (6 August 2025 – 23 February 2025)
This exhibition is jointly organised by the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and the HKPM. “Treasures of the Mughal Court” is Hong Kong’s first comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Mughal art, celebrating the diverse artistic traditions and unparalleled craftsmanship from the “golden age” of the Mughal dynasty (1526–1857) through a display of over 100 precious artefacts. The spectacular loans are from the V&A collection, supported by loans from Kuwait, the UK, Hong Kong, and other international collections, ranging from paintings to jewellery, architectural fragments, weaponry, textiles, and ceramics. The Hong Kong Palace Museum, the Chris Hall Collection at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and the Collection of Mengdiexuan also provide important loans.
Gallery 9 - Special Exhibition "Ancient Egypt Unveiled —Treasures from Egyptian Museums” (20 November 2025 – 31 August 2026)
The largest, most comprehensive, and longest-running display of ancient Egyptian treasures in Hong Kong. The exhibition features an extraordinary collection of 250 precious artefacts on loan from the SCA of Egypt, drawn from seven of its affiliated museums. The exhibition also includes recent archaeological discoveries from the Saqqara —the vast necropolis of the ancient capital of Memphis, located south of Cairo. The precious artefacts include monumental statues, painted and inscribed stone stelae, mummy coffins and masks, jewellery, everyday objects, and animal mummies. These objects span nearly 4,000 years of history. Many of these objects, of extraordinary historical and scholarly significance, are exhibited outside Egypt for the first time.
