Departure Routes & Schedule

  • Car: Cars including cars with roof boxes and sports equipment carried on roof racks. Sedans, sports cars, station wagons and people movers
  • Ute: Includes flat deck, extended cab and double cab utility vehicles. Max passengers: 7
  • Van: All standard van types. Max passengers: 15
  • SUV: Larger utility vehicles with raised chassis and usually with off-road capability. Max passengers: 8
  • Campervan: Campervans are smaller than motorhomes and include living/sleeping quarters in the back section. This can be driven with a standard vehicle license and most rental campers fit in this category. Please ensure that the length is correct so that we allocate sufficient space. Max passengers: 9
  • Motorcycle: All motorbike types and sizes. Please note that while some facilities are available, it is recommended that you bring your own tie-downs. E-bikes are classed as bicycles and can be added as an extra during the booking process. Max passengers: 2

Luggage Information

  • Carry-on: One small bag and one handbag/laptop bag
  • Check-in: Two (2) items of check-in luggage per person
  • Bag limits: 32kg per 200 linear centimeters per bag
  • Excess luggage: NZD5 per item
  • Oversized sporting equipment can be added to your booking at NZD15 per item
  • Bicycles can be added to your booking for NZD15
  • Foot passengers can check their luggage at the desks inside the terminal (in Wellington you can use the check-in desks, in Picton there is a separate luggage desk)
  • If you are transferring to the Coastal Pacific train, notify the check-in staff and they will label your baggage for the onward journey. Your bags will be transferred to the Coastal Pacific for you, whilst you make the short walk to the station
  • Carry On Package: One small bag and one handbag or laptop bag. Maximum weight: 7kg. Maximum size: 118 linear centimeters (height + length + width). For the safety and comfort of everyone on board, large bags are not allowed in the passenger areas

Eligibility

  • Children aged 0-1 can join this activity free of charge provided they will not occupy separate seats
  • Children aged 18+ will be charged the same rate as adults
  • Child ticket: Age 2-17

Additional information

  • If you need to book a vehicle ticket, please select the vehicle package and the passage package and indicate your car detail at checkout page
  • For round trip tickets, please purchase two one-way tickets
  • In case of extreme weather conditions, the trips may get canceled and guests will be given the option to reschedule the tour or opt for a full refund
  • This vehicle is not wheelchair-accessible
  • Pet Policy: Pets or equestrian animals can remain in your vehicle, be booked into a kennel (dogs only), or checked-in as luggage in a suitable pet carrier or cage. Please indicate the number of kennels required at checkout page. All of the ships have dog kennels that can be included in your booking for both foot passengers and vehicle passengers. However, it is strongly recommended to bring your own kennel during peak season in case of shortage. Only Disability Assist Dogs are allowed in the passenger areas of the ships. Please note: Animals will not be transported if they are sick, unmanageable, deemed unsafe or present a risk to themselves or others. Please inform the check-in staff that you have a pet in your vehicle and they'll give you a special hanger for your rear-view mirror. Please ensure your pet is well fed, watered, toileted and exercised before boarding in your vehicle. Kennels cost NZD15 each (typical dimensions are 800 x 800 x 600), please book ahead to ensure availability

You get to board after all the vehicles are boarded (means that travelers with a car/van gets all the nice seats).
