Beihai Wetland

Beihai Wetland is located in the northeast of Tengchong City, Baoshan, Yunnan Province, and is a national 4A-level tourist attraction. It is a subtropical volcanic rock barrier lake formed by volcanic eruptions in the Cenozoic era 600,000 years ago, and is also China's only volcanic barrier lake floating mat wetland. With its unique three-dimensional ecosystem composed of high mountain forests, floating water mats, and barrier lakes, it exhibits extremely rich biodiversity, earning it the reputation of "Kidney of the Earth" and "Gene Bank of Wetland Species".

The most astonishing landscape in the scenic area is undoubtedly the colorful giant "floating mats" on the water. Nutrient-rich volcanic ash has nurtured large areas of meadows floating on the water, like a thick green carpet laid across the lake surface. Strolling along the wooden boardwalks over the water, you can get a close look at hundreds of rare animals and plants, such as the Baer's Pochard, known as the "panda among birds," and the water shield, known as the "plant panda." With an altitude of 1750 meters, the air here has an extremely high content of negative oxygen ions, making it an excellent natural oxygen bar for summer retreats, health preservation, and breathing fresh air.

When visiting, the most unmissable experience is the unique water activities. You can leisurely cruise on the lake in a small boat or bamboo raft, enjoying the gentle breeze and the company of fish and birds; you can also personally experience interactive activities full of wild fun, such as rowing a grass raft, stepping on the grass mats, and traditional fish netting. Here, you can admire romantic irises in spring, enjoy the cool sea of clouds in summer, photograph colorful flower seas in autumn, and observe flocks of migratory birds in winter. All four seasons offer an immersive natural healing journey.
