Guide
- The Red Stone Forest National Geopark is located in Guzhang County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province, in the middle section of the golden tourist corridor from Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang Ancient Town. This is a geological wonder nurtured by nature over five hundred million years of geological change, once the seabed of the Ordovician period, later emerging from the sea due to crustal movement and dissolution. As China's only red carbonate stone forest, it not only possesses extremely high geological scientific research value but also amazes visitors with its extremely rare Danxia karst landform.
- Stepping into the Red Stone Forest is like entering a colorful alien world. Stone peaks of various shapes rise from the ground, some resembling galloping horses, others like camel humps, with geological landscapes such as stone walls, caves, and natural bridges scattered throughout. Most miraculously, the color of the Red Stone Forest changes wonderfully with the weather, time, and seasons – fiery red on sunny days, turning into a deep dark brown on rainy days, truly embodying the saying "red in sun, black in rain, different in morning and evening." Each visit offers a different visual surprise.
- In addition to the rugged stone forest landscape, the scenic area is also dotted with valleys, streams, natural pools, and carpet-like lawns, where ancient wisteria intertwine with dark red stone peaks, combining strength and softness. Because it is relatively less known, visitors can not only avoid the noisy crowds and enjoy a rare sense of tranquility and leisure but also deeply experience the rich ethnic customs of western Hunan. Connecting the Red Stone Forest with Furong Town, just across a river, is definitely an excellent route for you to explore the secret realms of western Hunan.
