A Heartwarming Tale of Healing and Connection
Based on Korea's million-copy bestselling novel, this music drama follows the unlikely strangers who cross paths at "Always," a small convenience story — and the quiet, life-changing moments that unfold between them.
Synopsis
“A somewhat uncomfortable, yet special convenience store — ultimately, it’s our story.” While living on the streets near Seoul Station, a homeless man named Dokgo crosses paths with Yum Young-suk, a woman in her 70s, after returning her lost wallet. That chance encounter leads him to a night shift job at her convenience store, “Always,” in Cheongpa-dong. Though he suffers from alcohol-related dementia and his speech and movements are awkward, Dokgo has a mysterious ability to win over customers and those around him, gradually becoming a steady and dependable presence who watches over the convenience store at night. The store brings together an unlikely cast: ▪ Yum Young-suk — the store owner, a retired high school history teacher ▪ Si-hyeon — a part-timer in her 20s struggling to find a full-time job ▪ Oh Sun-suk — a part-timer in her 50s working out of necessity ▪ Kyung-man — an office worker who drinks his troubles away each night at the outdoor table with a “Cham Cham Cham” set ▪ In-kyung — a playwright who has come to Cheongpa-dong as if it were her last chance to write
Each carries the weight of their own reality and as they watch Dokgo more closely, they each begin to see him through the lens of their own struggles.

The entire musical performance is approximately 100 minutes long. For international visitors, they also offer real-time translation services, allowing them to fully understand the plot. This service is truly thoughtful.
The show was amazing! I was kind of nervous about the subtitles, but they put a device and your seat before you even arrive. The subtitles were easy to read and follow. definitely would recommend 10/10
This was a very well written and staged musical/play, taking an honest look at issues and prejudices amongst us. Subtitles were provided. An emotional and authentic journey this was!
I had already read the novel this story is based on, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a stage play performance during my trip to Busan. Subtitles were provided for foreigners, so even without knowing Korean, I could fully immerse myself in the show. The actors were excellent, and the story was moving, making it well worth seeing. Afterward, the actors even stayed to take photos with the audience, which was a truly precious experience.
It's great! They even offer subtitle services for foreigners, which is incredibly thoughtful!
