What to expect

Arrive at Xiamen-Gulangyu Ferry Terminal to wait for your ferry to Gulangyu Island, known as the "Garden on the Sea." Ferry times are subject to actual ticket availability and cannot be specified. Gulangyu Island boasts a pleasant climate year-round, a tranquil environment, birdsong, and fragrant flowers. In 1902, Gulangyu was designated as an international settlement. The Public Works Bureau (工部局) served as the administrative body at the time, responsible for infrastructure construction, police establishment, sanitation management, and taxation.
Head to Longtou Road Snack Street on Gulangyu Island, a gathering place for many authentic local delicacies such as Shen's Minnan Rice Noodle Rolls, Lin's Fish Balls, and Turkish Ice Cream. Guests are free to choose and enjoy lunch (at your own expense).
Proceed to Sunlight Rock, Ma Yuehan Square, and Foreigners' Football Field. Sunlight Rock, originally named "Huangyan," is said to have been renamed "Sunlight Rock" by Zheng Chenggong, as it is the earliest place on Gulangyu to be illuminated by sunlight. Guests who do not wish to climb Sunlight Rock can enjoy free time and then meet at Ma Yuehan Square.

Yuyuan Garden is located on Fuxing Road in the southeast of Gulangyu Island and was built to commemorate the people's medical scientist Lin Qiaozhi. "Yu" means to cultivate and nurture. The garden features an exhibition room showcasing Dr. Lin Qiaozhi's life and achievements.
Tour the Catholic Church, Xiehe Chapel, the former Japanese Consulate, and the former Spanish Consulate. Gulangyu Island features diverse architectural styles, blending Chinese and Western characteristics, and enjoys the reputation of the "International Architecture Exhibition."
