What to expect
- Presidential Palace: Take Metro Line 2 or 3 to Daxinggong Station, exit from Exit 5, and walk to the Presidential Palace. As an important site in modern Chinese history, this was once the center of Chinese political and military affairs. Spend approximately 1.5 hours here, admire the combination of classical and Western architecture, visit the offices of Hong Xiuquan and Sun Yat-sen, and learn about the vicissitudes of modern China.
- Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum: Take a bus from the Presidential Palace to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, a journey of approximately 30 minutes. The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is the tomb of Mr. Sun Yat-sen and features magnificent architecture. After entering the scenic area, visit the Paifang, tomb passage, and mausoleum gate along the central axis to feel Mr. Sun Yat-sen's great spirit of "The world is for all." The tour takes approximately 1.5 hours.
- 12:30 - 13:30: Meiling Palace: Take a scenic sightseeing bus or taxi from Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum to Meiling Palace, which only takes 10 - 15 minutes. As Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling's villa, Meiling Palace has a unique charm with its combination of Chinese and Western architectural styles. The interior decoration is exquisite. Spend about 1 hour here to appreciate the unique charm of the Republic of China period. At the same time, you can dine nearby and taste Nanjing's special cuisine.
- Niushou Mountain: Take a bus to Niushou Mountain, a journey of approximately 1 - 1.5 hours. Niushou Mountain not only has beautiful natural scenery, but also has famous attractions such as Foguang Temple, Foguang Pagoda, and Foguang Palace. Foguang Palace enshrines the Buddha's skull relics and was built at a cost of 4 billion. Its large dome and small dome are solemn and awe-inspiring. Spend approximately 2.5 hours exploring Niushou Mountain and feel the strong Buddhist cultural atmosphere.
- Confucius Temple: Take a bus from Niushou Mountain to Confucius Temple, about 1 hour. Confucius Temple was built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and has a long history. It is a good place to taste Nanjing's special snacks and buy souvenirs. Here, follow the route of the Ancient Qinhuai Archway, Jiangnan Examination Hall, and Confucius Temple Dacheng Hall, admire the night view on both sides of the Qinhuai River, and you can also choose to take a Qinhuai River painted boat to appreciate the unique charm of the Six Dynasties Yanyue District.

As the ads is written in English, I thought "Chinese-speaking guide" is an add-on not the only choice, and it turned out in reality that we didn't understand a bit. The instruction to the gathering point was not clear enough (maybe due to incorrect translation on the weixin app), costing us a lot of time and efforts to get to the right place. However, Xiao Mi is a nice person, she tried hard to keep connected to us before and during the trip.

The tour guide 袁金金 was friendly and accommodating, brought the group around the various places the entire day. Very knowledgeable guide and was a regret I had to end the tour slightly early at the confucius temple as I was not feeling well. Good experience with the tour nonetheless.
