Luoyang Must-See: Shaolin Temple & Longmen Grottoes One-Day Tour

We were incredibly fortunate to have Fey as our tour guide and she truly made the experience unforgettable. From start to finish, Fey went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience. One thing that really stood out to us was her thoughtfulness. We set off early in the morning, prepared for the cold weather, but the mountain turned out to be much colder and windier than expected. I had forgotten my ear muffs and mask, and when we were on the open-air electric vehicle, the wind was so biting that I started sneezing. Fey immediately took out a mask for me to wear and shielded us from the wind. We were genuinely touched by her kindness and quick thinking. Throughout the entire tour, she made sure we were comfortable, checking in with us regularly. Fey’s energy, friendliness, and patience really made the tour a pleasure. Her English is excellent, and she shared so many wonderful insights into Luoyang’s rich history and attractions. We truly feel lucky and grateful to have had her as our guide. If you’re planning to take this tour, we can’t recommend Fey enough. She’s the perfect combination of professionalism, warmth, and care—she made our trip extra special! Additionally, we would like to commend the person who contacted us for the tour. She also provided excellent service when we needed help booking our train from Xi’an to Luoyang. It was very late at night when we reached out, and she immediately assisted us in finalising the details. We are very grateful for her prompt and efficient support.

This is a must to do experience! Amazing sightseeing with my knowledgeable guide Sun and if you can spend the $ go on a private tour rather than a group tour. There are hundreds of Chinese tourists groups daily but with a private guide you clearly have an advantage, no wait, no lines, best photo opps.

Guide James(?) was knowledgeable and very professional. His effort was commendable, especially during the shaolin performance when some older male audience squeezed into a seat too near my young daughter. Guide offered to change seats and made us feel safe. The entire journey wasn’t as long as described. more like 6 hrs. It was a well explained trip. I learnt so much about Shaolin and the Longmen Grottoes.
