What to expect
Experience private Zen meditation at a 400-year-old hidden temple in Asakusa, Tokyo. While Zen is famous worldwide, authentic English-guided sessions are rare in Japan.
This temple is closed to the public, but our exclusive partnership offers you a private session with a resident monk. You will learn the history of Zen, receive personal instruction on Zazen (seated meditation), and practice techniques to unify your mind and detach from worldly ego.
Following meditation, enjoy a traditional matcha tea ceremony and a relaxed conversation with the monk. You are also welcome to take photos throughout the temple to capture these unique memories.

Reviews
This experience was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. So unique and spiritual and you left with a such a great understanding of zen meditation and Buddhism. Highly recommend this experience.
Interesting to see the differences between mind trip vs immersive meditation. Educational and practical that could do it at home after the trip.
This experience was very enlightening and I learned about multiple things besides just meditation. I learned about the monk himself and about calligraphy.
A moment away from the caziness of Tokyo. Thank you Namiki and Katsu for that shared time. It's a very good introduction to Buddhism !!
Wonderful guide. Unique experience you can't find anywhere else. My favorite experience in Japan!
This was such a unique and wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to all! My tour guide was Tamami and we were led by Namiki-san, the head monk of the temple. I really appreciated their guidance and insight into Japanese Buddhism.
it was an interesting moment with the monk. Small group made the moment more significant. you are allowed to take pictures and make questions. The translator was very good in explaining what the monk was saying. their routine if very rigid and we had the opportunity to meditate through calligraphy and tea ceremony . it was a beautiful experience
This experience was outstanding. First, the tour guide speaks excellent English, and she and the monk have a good translation exercise. The tour starts at a private temple where the monk will explain how to do Zen meditation. There are 2 ten-minute meditation sessions followed by calligraphy tracing for 15 minutes. The monk explains worship and then there is a tea ceremony with matcha and Japanese sweets. Then you can ask questions, and the monk is very open to answering. A great educational experience and enlightening!
I had an amazing experience with Kazu as our guide. He was very punctual and organised. We had a basic introduction to Zen meditation, calligraphy and some light refreshments with matcha afterwards. Would recommend for the experience!
What a beautiful experience! I'm from Colombia, and I felt completely immersed in this wonderful culture, with meditation, calligraphy, and a tea ceremony.
