The location is excellent, within walking distance of Taipei Main Station. The hotel facilities were a bit old, which might be a challenge for those who are particular about cleanliness. The staff were kind and pleasant.

1. Great location: Near Taipei Main Station
2. Features a convenience store, a play area, and a self-service laundry area
3. 24-hour self-service instant noodle bar, and bread available for purchase
4. Room space: Includes a desk, a sink, a toilet, a hairdryer, and disposable slippers; comfortable space
5. Breakfast allows you to choose one meal from the menu; simple and delicious, featuring eggs, vegetables, and bread, plus self-service soup and milk
Cons: The shower in the bathroom makes it very easy for water to splash out
It is a clean and comfortable hotel, and I would stay here again given the opportunity.

This was a fantastic stay! The hotel facilities are very neat and clean (but you need to bring your own slippers, toothpaste, and toothbrush, and breakfast is self-service). The staff are very friendly. Plus, downstairs from the hotel, there's McDonald's, Watsons, Starbucks, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, and more. It's just a short walk to the entrance of the Taipei Main Station Z-area pedestrian street, which is very convenient.
Cleanliness: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Convenience of transportation: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The location is absolutely everything. You can exit the facility and be on the subway in three minutes—that's the kind of location it is. While the amenities are typical for a guesthouse, I really appreciate the focus on ensuring privacy.

I had a great stay at Hotel Papa Whale. The building design was really unique and different, but I actually liked its style and overall vibe. My room was spacious enough and had all the basic things I needed for a comfortable stay. Just a small reminder: bring your own toothpaste and toothbrush, or buy some nearby if you didn’t pack any.
The location was also very convenient — around a 6-minute walk to the Ximen area, which made it easy to explore, shop, and eat. There are also multiple 7-Eleven stores nearby, so it was very easy to grab snacks, drinks, or anything else I needed.
Overall, it was a comfortable and convenient stay, and I’d recommend it especially if you want to be near Ximending.

Amazing stay! Super convenient as one of the Ximen train exits was just outside the Hotel. This train station exit was stairs only thou.
Just diagonally accross the street from the Ximen shopping district, and a convenient store downstairs.
We got a corner room on the 13th floor (1316) and did not encounter the sound issues that others complained off. Bed was comfy as well, we enjoyed 5 quiet nights of sleep.
Room was generally clean, except some crumbs on the carpet.
Staff were really nice, friendly, and accomodating. We asked for an extra luggage rack and they delivered as well.
As stated in their website, only hand bar soap, body soap and shampoo provided. They also provided water and clean towels. We came prepared with our own toiletries.
Only thing was that the security safe in the room was not drilled in, it can be easily carried away.. so we didnt use it..

The best hotel!! The building is right after you exit the Ximen Exit 4 and Exit 5. The staff are very accommodating and even let us check in earlier since we had a dinner reservation to prepare for. Superb breakfast buffet, great service, clean room, and a plus point for their free luggage room.
