Qijin District

The best time to visit Qijin District is from November to March, when Kaohsiung is usually sunny, dry, and pleasant for cycling and seafood walks. Late afternoon is the best time for cooler temperatures and sunset views.

Take the Kaohsiung MRT to Sizihwan Station, walk to Gushan Ferry Pier, and ride the ferry to Qijin. Taxis and buses can also reach Qijin through the harbor tunnel, but the ferry is the classic visitor route.

Qijin is easy to explore by bicycle, e-bike, scooter, or on foot around the ferry pier and old street. Bikes are useful if you want to reach the beach, lighthouse trail, wind power park, and photo spots in one visit.

Stay in central Kaohsiung, Yancheng, or near Sizihwan for the easiest access to the ferry and nearby attractions. Qijin itself has fewer hotel choices, so most travelers visit as a half-day or full-day trip.
