The best time to visit Kauai is April to June or September to November, when weather is generally pleasant and peak holiday crowds are lower. North Shore surf and rain are more common in winter, while summer often brings calmer ocean conditions for boat tours.

Most travelers fly into Lihue Airport, with direct flights from some U.S. mainland cities and connections through Honolulu or other Hawaiian islands. From the airport, rent a car, book a shuttle, or arrange a hotel transfer.

Renting a car is strongly recommended because major attractions are spread across the North Shore, East Side, South Shore, and West Side. Tours are useful for helicopter flights, Nā Pali Coast cruises, and activities where parking or access is limited.

Poipu is best for sunny resort stays, beaches, and families. Princeville and Hanalei are ideal for North Shore scenery and lush landscapes. Kapaa and Lihue are convenient for airport access and exploring both sides of the island, while Waimea is useful for canyon-focused trips.
