Serving as a base for the Viet Cong troops, these tunnels span over 250 kilometers (155 miles) and include hidden entrances, living quarters, hospitals and storage facilities. Situated in Cu Chi District, northwest of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, the Cu Chi Tunnels were built in the late 1940s during the first Indochina war against the French colonialists, and expanded during the Vietnam War. They were designed with hidden trapdoors, ventilation holes disguised as termite mounds and booby traps to evade enemy troop presence. They were also used as communication and supply routes for launching surprise attacks against enemy forces. I saw this on TikTok and immediately decided to book it! Even after participating, I felt that this experience for the price was incredibly good value. You get to have an amazing time that truly makes you feel like you've arrived in Southeast Asia, so you absolutely must sign up! Our hotel was at a pick-up point, so they came to get us downstairs at 7:40 AM (it was actually around 7:35 AM, right on time). Since we chose the luxury limousine option, the journey took a little over two hours, but it was very comfortable. The seats reclined! For the first 20 minutes or so, our guide explained the history of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Mekong Delta in English. About 15 minutes before our next stop, we went to a place like a rest area! It's highly recommended to use the restroom here. Our tour started with a temple visit; after about 30-40 minutes there, we moved again by bus. The guide provided explanations and helped us take photos. After about five more minutes, we arrived at the boat dock. First, all of us (there were 17 people) boarded a motorized boat to Unicorn Island. Here, we listened to folk songs while sampling different fruits, drank honey tea at a bee farm, and even had a snake draped around our necks. We then moved by boat again, and at the next location, we sampled coconut candy at a candy factory and fed crocodiles. Afterward, we had lunch. The food was generally lightly seasoned, but I found it delicious! The elephant ear fish (there's a photo) is served as fresh spring rolls, but you can eat the remaining parts too. Since it was quite lightly seasoned, I asked if there was salt, and they kindly brought some on a plate for free! It's incredibly tasty with salt, so I highly recommend it. The restrooms near this spot are surprisingly clean, according to a friend. After that, we rode a hand-rowed boat for about 15 minutes (this was an experience, not to go anywhere specific), and that concluded the tour activities. Then, we took a tuk-tuk back to the boat dock, boarded a boat, and finally returned by bus. Everyone on the bus was fast asleep on the way back! Lol. We arrived at Ben Thanh Market around 5:15 PM. Our guide spoke excellent English and spoke at a pace that even I, who isn't fluent in English, could understand, allowing me to learn about Vietnamese history. A Japanese-language tour would have been much more expensive, so I think choosing the English tour was the right decision. Thank you so much!

Yes the trip overall is well organised and good value for the price. A highly recommended excursion. One suggestion: time spent at cultural singing rest point where we had fruits could be shortened so as to reduce tour overall time. I visited the war museum today. Both the cuci tunnel and museum visits have impressed upon me the tenacity and resilience of the Vietnamese facing the mindless war caused by the American political leaders. Even their own people protested against the aggression against Vietnam.

Amazing Cu Chi Tunnels Experience 🇻🇳 We really appreciate our guide, Lee! From the moment we got into the van until we arrived at the Cu Chi Tunnels, he never stopped sharing stories and history about Vietnam. You can really tell how knowledgeable and passionate he is about what he does. He was also funny and engaging, so there was never a dull moment throughout the journey. His stories made the experience more interesting and helped us understand the history behind the Cu Chi Tunnels even better. Thank you, Lee, for making our tour informative, fun, and memorable! Highly recommended! ⭐️

I had a wonderful experience on this tour. The guide took excellent care of us throughout the trip, and the driver was very professional, careful, and safety-conscious. They even kindly bought some fruit for us to enjoy, which was a very thoughtful gesture. I would definitely recommend this tour to my friends who plan to visit in the future. Thank you very much for providing such a memorable and enjoyable experience.

Yen was a great guide, he was knowledgeable and communicated very well in good english. He shared the history of the vietnam war and the cu chi tunnels. Pick up from hotel was prompt and fuss free. There was a toilet break and short breakfast break and coffee for those who want.. Here we also visited the making of the laquer products. At cu chi tunnels, we had the chance to go into the tunnels and learnt of the ingeunuity of the vietnamese and the various traps they built.

The main highlights were the Cu Chi Tunnels, lunch, and the Mekong River. Each location offered a wide variety of activities, making the day very fulfilling! There was so much to do that it was almost impossible to cover everything in one day, so I highly recommend it! Thank you so much for guiding us, Mingo!

Spent my birthday on the Saigon Princess Cruise and it was honestly one of the best decisions I made during my trip! 🥹 I requested if they could do something for my birthday, and they were so thoughtful as they surprised me with a cake and even sang me Happy Birthday. It made me feel so special. The waiters were all so kind and attentive the whole time, and the live singers were amazing! It was also such a fun surprise that they were Filipino. They were so talented and really made the whole experience even better. Everything from the food, the views, the music, and the service was just amazing. If you're celebrating your birthday in Ho Chi Minh City, I 100% recommend spending it here. Thank you for making my birthday so memorable! ❤️

Tips before Visiting Ho Chi Minh

1. Plan your trip around the lunar calendar

Before visiting Ho Chi Minh, check the lunar calendar for major festivals like Tet (Lunar New Year) or other cultural attractions and events. These holidays bring colorful parades, temple ceremonies, and traditional performances, but also crowded transport hubs and business closures.

2. You don’t need to carry cash

Ho Chi Minh City is almost cashless! Most coffee shops, food stalls, and shopping centers accept cards or digital payments. Download ride-hailing apps like Grab or Be to easily book and pay for rides, food deliveries, and even accommodation; there's no need to worry about exchanging money or carrying cash around.

3. Embrace the energy and excitement

4. Respect personal space (or lack of it)

In Ho Chi Minh City, locals are friendly and warm, but personal space is more relaxed. You might get a pat on the shoulder or a compliment from a friendly stranger; take it as a sign of welcome.

5. Dress smart for temples and pagodas

You can wear almost anything in Vietnam’s largest city, but modest clothing is a must at religious sites. When visiting temples like the Jade Emperor Pagoda or other cultural attractions, cover your shoulders and knees to show respect.
