Reviews
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and being able to her up-close with the elephants. It was a very natural environment (not pristine in man-made conditions), which I appreciated. The guide was also very helpful and kept offering to help us take photos (as our hands were full with all the bathing and feeding!). He also shared his knowledge on elephants and gave us a better understanding on the behaviours and habits of them. The group size was also not too big (about 10-12 of us in total), which was just nice.
Went to visit Sompon again with my sister-in-law. She was able to remember me. Spent 1.5 hours with the elephants, great weather that day and everyone working there and handling the tour was very helpful and kind. New member there called Butan(?).
my family really enjoyed the close interaction with the elephants. it was such a wonderful experience. the service was good and the place is clean too.
It was my first time getting so close to and interacting with elephants, so it was a wonderful experience. They seemed to really enjoy it when we hugged them and scrubbed them with brushes, which was a lot of fun.
Wow wow wow - this was the best thing we have done on Holiday. This is a rescue centre for elephants who previously have had a hard working life. They are treated so well so that they can live out the rest of their lives happy. We got to make their food and then they are called and you feed, clean and wash them. They roam freely in a 100 acre park - no chains, no sticks and thankfully no riding at all. It was an amazing experience - very humbling. Highly recommended. We may go again before we go home.
I was picked up from my hotel by their driver and we drove for around 30-45 mins to their place. The guide speaks English fluently and he has many stories about how they thrive to provide for the elephants, especially during the pandemic. There were two parts of the activity, one is for putting mud jn the elephant's body and the second was bathing with them. There were two elephants at sach station. The elephants were given bananas and treats that we rolled ourselves. The elephants were not tied or anything, they were roaming around and called by the guides just by talking. There was even an instance when they asked me to shout banana and the elephant who was already wandering away came back. As the guides say, they're like giant pet dogs. Overall it was a nice experience, hopefully, the elephants are really happy being bathed and mudded.
Such a lovely experience. We enjoyed our excursion to the elephant care house so much. Touching and feeding the animals was amazing. The. are like family members to the locals.
Cookie Guide is really the best! She kept taking pictures and videos, and she speaks really, really good English and a little Korean! I think it was more fun because the guide was so lovely. And the elephants were so big that I was surprised at first, but the more I looked at them, their eyes were so pretty and gentle,, and I quickly became attached to them. Everyone went in the morning, so there were no people in the afternoon. I went on an unintentional private tour with a friend. It was really nice because it was a tour where you could take care of the elephants without riding them! Here are pictures of the elephants we bathed together, the way to bathe them, and making elephant food.
Visited in April 2023, it was an absolutely amazing experience. The elephants seemed well taken care of and the guide was very good at explaining everything. Absolutely loved the time we spent with the elephants.
If you love elephants, this is the tour for you to get up close and personal with them. They pick-up from the hotel on time and the guides at the sanctuary provide full explanation from start to end on the procedures which makes it very easy to follow. If i could, i would have gone everyday to enjoy time with the elephants ( all females btw, so cool!). Be prepared to get dirty as well with mud, the elephants are playful 💜.
