Okinawa has super clear water! It's a pity that the waves were too big that day so I couldn't go to the Blue Cave, but the instructor took me to other places for snorkeling, and I found a lot of fish. I hope I can go to Qingdong next time!
One instructor for two participants was very professional. The only downside was that the diving time was too short, and the journey was too long.
It's my first time to snorkel, but it's not difficult, and my coach, Dai-chan, kindly guided me in the sea! You can do it even if you really can't swim! It was a little scary at first, but if you breathe properly, you can enjoy watching fish in the sea! It was my first time to parasailing, but it was a lot of fun! The sea seen from the sky is very beautiful! The staff's older sister was also very kind and took a lot of very good pictures and videos! !! I am very satisfied! I will definitely repeat those two activities! !!
our instructor Meng was awesome! he kept checking up on us to make sure we were doing ok underwater. lesson was also given so we were not clueless at all while diving. he spoke english and is very kind enough to arrange a handoff because we left our GoPro at the site. he also took A LOT of photos and videos and we were very satisfied with the quality. also happy that he kept assuring us we were gna be fine coz i was getting a bit scared. 10/10 experience! we'll surely return!!
There were a lot of people inside and outside the cave that day. I stayed in the cave for a very short time. I hurriedly took pictures before leaving. I also found it interesting at other times.
Scuba dive (individual) Pick up was easy to find and they would send you the address and photos a day before. Be mindful that you will be joining other groups from a different pick up in the same boat out, so there were about 12 of us split into 4 groups. I was the only scuba in my group, so I got a 1-1 experience with the guide, Erika-san. She was experienced by the way she gave instructions (I have no diving experience, only snorkelling). She checked back often and was also very mindful of my limitations and knew how far/deep I could go. Blue Cave is crowded! So you might have to wait your turn to get in. Overall a fun and manageable dive for those with no experience at all. Many fish and corals to see and different sea features.
Very fun experience. Bus pickup location was very easy to find, though it was an hour ride there. snorkeling was fun with good experienced guides even for beginners.
Here's my experience! The organisers messaged me the day ahead to confirm I had received their email about the pick-up which I found very thoughtful. The pick-up was very prompt. We arrived ahead of schedule to the port. We dropped our stuff in their car and after filling in some forms, were soon escorted to the boat. If you're snorkelling, you can stay in your swimsuit but should wear a life jacket throughout. (We were able to eventually take it off near the end since I think they could see we were strong swimmers but this was only permitted with a guide staying with us and staying relatively near the boat.) The boat is fairly small but is fine to hold everyone and all the gear. The staff were very kind throughout explaining everything to us slowly and clearly and they looked after my stuff (hat, sunglasses, phone) to make sure it didn't get wet on the boat. The trip itself on the boat is pretty short - around 5 minutes. Unfortunately for us, the waves were too rough so we couldn't enter the blue cave and instead snorkelled in a closeby location - an artificial reef where you can see a lot of fish (Nemo, gill fish, parrot fish). In our group, the majority could not swim so stuck close to the guides and bodyboard to float around. For us who wanted to roam around more freely, we stayed somewhat close to the guide but were allowed to just go where we wanted. A great part was that we had a GoPro and the guides were more than willing to take our photo and try different angles which was very sweet. Personally, I felt we had enough time in the water (maybe 40 minutes?). We then returned swiftly, there was a hose where you could rinse yourself off, and the changing rooms are small tents but work fine to change your clothes. We were soon in the mini-van back home so little time was spent waiting around. Overall I would say it is well-organised, the staff were very friendly, but for me having visited some other areas in Okinawa with bigger wildlife (e.g. turtles, sea snakes), the array of fish was fairly unimpressive. But it was a nice chance to swim in new waters in a convenient way, be around fishes (and the cool part was that so many swim very very close to you!), and my complaints about the diversity of sea life is not a reflection of the tour company who were great.
Hands down one of the best experiences here in Okinawa, I’m not sure why we didn’t do this on our first visit but second time felt adventurous and booked it. The instructor was English speaker he was very patient with my husband and I and despite not really knowing him made the experience not only comfortable but also memorable. instructions were clear and easy to understand. We will most definitely be doing this again on our next visit. Thank you!!
Even in December, the sea water was warm and the temperature was perfect for snorkeling! I was very satisfied because the instructor communicated in simple English and was very kind. I was satisfied because I saw a lot of tropical fish on the bottom of the deep blue sea. Photos were purchased with cash and the shower facilities were a bit poor, so I recommend bringing a towel to dry and a plastic bag to put wet clothes in! I want to try scuba diving next time haha.
