Reviews
The location was hard to find with the address on the listing, so I would recommend to put Shinjuku Sumo Club in the description/location. The original map brought us a few blocks behind the building in a residential area, so we were barely on time for the event. Once there, we were able to get seats together in the back row for our group of nine. The free drink is a bottle of green tea or water. The seats are on risers, so it is easy to view the show from any location in the room, and the wrestlers are very humorous and knowledgeable. We enjoyed getting to take photos with them after the event. We saw the last show of the day, but their energy and strength was still at peak performance. I definitely recommend the show for those just becoming introduced to sumo wrestling and not having an opportunity to attend an actual tournament, as was the case for our relatives visiting from the USA. The show is fully in English and Japanese, and there are several staff available to assist.
this was fantastic! it’s intuitive not only about the history of sumo but the different techniques and moves used within the sport as well. the exhibition was amazing and fun and the interaction with spectators was everything you wanted it to be. definitely recommend!
I had a lot of fun! Set your expectations to “casual sumo show with humour” instead of “honorable sumo wrestling match” and you will not be disappointed. I thought the price was a bit steep but I would still recommend it.
Dai was an awesome host, super engaging and shared heaps of cool history about sumo culture. Guchi & George were amazing too, totally grabbed everyone’s attention. Such a great experience overall, would definitely recommend it to anyone!
What a great experience! The host Manny was very easy going and carried the story and had great explanation to get an appetizer of sumo. Very fun experience, would recommend!
amazing, amazing experience. do yourselves a favor and go have this amazing experience. the hosts were friendly and knowledgable. The two Sumo wrestlers Jorji and Ogawa were so funny and sensational. we had an amazing time.
The staff was fantastic they really help to make this a great experience. Would highly recommend this venue.
very entertaining show, a lot of interaction with audience with friendly staff especially a Malaysian male staff whom I did not ask for his name, works as part time. He was very friendly and put us at ease.
This experience was excellent. The Master of Ceremony was an Aussie who explained the history and rules of Sumo. Once that was done, the group was introduced to the rikishis (wrestlers). They are serious athletes but loved an audience and interacted with us. They demonstrated various moves & techniques before completing a best of 3 matches. After, they took turns at competing with audience members, it was very funny. The rikishi then posed for photos with audience members. A great show for all the family, a must do. location: a bit tricky to get to, if using trains & walking, allow plenty of time or get a taxi.
everything was smooth and the performance was nice. just do not think kids like this traditional sports event.
