suggest to go in from the South Gate. the tour is one straight line. if you have time, tour the west side of the park and exit by the west. note: you need to buy the combined tickets to enter the main attractions of the park. additional ticket to purchase at the entrance of the park is the music quarters ticke, which is not included in this combined ticket. If you understand Chinese, download the WeChat mini program which has the map as well as commentary.
Booked combination ticket via klook and it was seamless. I just presented the QR code at the gates. The park was huge with resting areas in the forest part. There are many tourists, either you go early or go late. There was a light up at night on friday to sunday but you can only see it from outside. It was a very good way to spend the day. I went in the afternoon. Thank you for this.
Really beautiful temple! Place is quite big so have to walk a bit. Must get combination ticket to visit the main attraction (Hall of prayer for good harvest).
We had such a beautiful experience visiting the Temple of Heaven. We truly enjoyed walking through the park, taking in the peaceful atmosphere and admiring the incredible architecture. The temple itself looks absolutely stunning – even more impressive in person than in photos. The details, the colors, and the symmetry are simply breathtaking. What made our visit even more special were the people. Everyone we met was so kind, welcoming, and friendly. Many locals approached us with smiles, wanting to say hello and even take photos with us. It was such a warm and heartwarming experience that made us feel truly welcome. Visiting the Temple of Heaven was unforgettable, and we highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Beijing. It’s not just a historic site – it’s a place full of beauty, culture, and genuine human connection.
Wendy was wonderful, spoke English well and we loved her cheerful attitude. She was very informative and also helpful in letting us know where to take the best photos, definitely recommend this activity!
Majestic temple, beautiful gardens, and clear, precise signage. Allow at least 2.5 hours to see everything.
Booking the Temple of Heaven Combo Ticket was an incredibly smooth and hassle-free experience from start to finish! The booking process was straightforward, allowing me to select my preferred date and combo option within seconds. Confirmation was instant, and having the e-ticket readily accessible on my phone eliminated all the stress of waiting in long ticket counter lines at the site. Scanning the digital voucher right at the entrance turnstiles was completely seamless, granting effortless access to explore the iconic Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and the surrounding park grounds.
The Temple of Heaven is truly immense. You might want to spend a whole day here, walking slowly and enjoying the old buildings, and exploring each attraction within the park. There are a lot of people, so you might need some time to take a great photo as you need to adjust everything.

Guide

  • Explore the Temple of Heaven, a national 5A-level tourist attraction, which has been inscribed on the "World Cultural Heritage" list.
  • It is the largest existing ancient sacrificial building complex in the world, a place where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties offered sacrifices to heaven and prayed for good harvests.
  • Visit the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, the Imperial Vault of Heaven, or the Circular Mound Altar, among others, to understand the exquisite design of each building.
  • Witness Beijing's elderly doing morning exercises at the Temple of Heaven and experience the leisurely urban life of Beijing.

The Temple of Heaven Park was where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties annually offered sacrifices to heaven and prayed for abundant harvests. The Temple of Heaven is renowned worldwide for its rigorous architectural layout, unique structural design, and magnificent architectural decorations. It covers a total area of approximately 2.7 million square meters and is divided into the Inner Altar and the Outer Altar. The main buildings are in the Inner Altar, with the Circular Mound Altar and the Imperial Vault of Heaven to the south, and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and the Imperial Zenith Hall to the north. These two groups of buildings are connected by a north-south thoroughfare called the Danbi Bridge. The Outer Altar is covered with lush ancient cypresses, surrounding the Inner Altar and making the main building complex appear even more solemn and magnificent. Within the altar, there are also the Echo Wall, Triple-Sound Stone, and Dialogue Stone, ingeniously built using acoustic principles, fully demonstrating the advanced level of ancient Chinese architectural craftsmanship. The Temple of Heaven Park is the largest preserved altar complex in China.
