The Temple of Heaven Park was where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties annually offered sacrifices to heaven and prayed for abundant harvests. The Temple of Heaven is renowned worldwide for its rigorous architectural layout, unique structural design, and magnificent architectural decorations. It covers a total area of approximately 2.7 million square meters and is divided into the Inner Altar and the Outer Altar. The main buildings are in the Inner Altar, with the Circular Mound Altar and the Imperial Vault of Heaven to the south, and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests and the Imperial Zenith Hall to the north. These two groups of buildings are connected by a north-south thoroughfare called the Danbi Bridge. The Outer Altar is covered with lush ancient cypresses, surrounding the Inner Altar and making the main building complex appear even more solemn and magnificent. Within the altar, there are also the Echo Wall, Triple-Sound Stone, and Dialogue Stone, ingeniously built using acoustic principles, fully demonstrating the advanced level of ancient Chinese architectural craftsmanship. The Temple of Heaven Park is the largest preserved altar complex in China.
