What to expect
Arrive at Shin-Aomori station and head to Mt. Hakkoda, one of Japan’s 100 famous mountains. The next day, travel to Akita from Aomori by local train and enjoy free time in the bustling Akita city. After an early dinner, witness the impressive “Kanto Festival,” where performers balance kanto, long bamboo poles with paper lanterns attached. On the last day, enjoy panoramic views of the Japan Sea from Nyudozaki Lighthouse, learn about the local demon "NAMAHAGE" at Shinzan Shrine and Namahage Museum, and visit Mt. Kanpuzan Rotating Observatory for a 360° view of the Japan Sea and Oga Peninsula.
