By a rare stroke of luck, I was the only attendee for the session I attended so I was able to enjoy a one-on-one class. My teacher Miho, was immediately warm and engaging, welcoming me into her studio with tea before patiently guiding me through making 3 different types of Japanese sweets - hanami dango, a skewer of 3 rice flour dumplings; an ice cream-filled mochi ball and 2 types of taiyaki. My lack of Japanese language was no issue, as Miho's English is excellent. This was a lovely way to spend a rainy Kyoto afternoon; not only has the experience make for a memorable souviner, but I'll be able to share a little piece of my travels with friends and family when I make these sweets for them upon my return! Whether you're a solo traveller like myself, or travelling with your loved ones, I highly recommend signing up :)
instructor was very nice and helpful ! the experience of training was amazing. instructor also fluent in english ! i will coming back for sure when the next time i’m coming to Japan ! 👍👍👍👍👍
Turned out it was just the 3 of us scheduled for the class, and we really enjoyed it. We made mochi for mochi ice cream; dango; and pancakes that we filled with pre-prepared red bean and sweet potato paste. Miho was warm and friendly and tolerant of my teen and tween’s antics.
Miho greeted us kindly and showed us how to make these delicious desserts. She is adorable and answers all our questions. We are enjoying our delicious desserts with a cup of tea in a beautiful living room, with a very cute little Japanese garden. Great time.
One of the best workshops that we have had in Japan, we will definitely be back! An authentic experience with an experienced guide and most importantly, something that you can recreate at home if you want to! the menu is adapted to seasons and is unique each time you visit. Thank you so much from all of us!
Our time with Miho was the highlight of our 12-day trip to Japan. She was thoughtful, well-prepared, and a joy to meet. Our girls (10 and 7) had so much fun learning from Miho and can’t wait to make the delicious recipes at home. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, as Miho’s warmth, grace, and hospitality made us feel as if we were simply going to a friend’s home. Book this experience - you won’t regret it.
So good! We made three different sweets and Miho san was generous about accomodating my veganism. Her english is outstanding and her teaching style is patient and friendly.
