What to know about Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial

Located in Seattle, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial is a 4.5-acre park on Martin Luther King, Jr. Way between South Walker and South Bayview Streets. In the middle of the park is a big black 'mountain' sculpture inspired by Dr. King's "I've Been to the Mountaintop" speech before he passed away in 1968. The park got a new name in 2018 to honor the local leaders and organizations in Seattle working for the social justice and the Civil Rights Act. They also honored the important role of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights heroes by adding "Civil Rights" to the park's name.
