Louvre Museum

The Louvre Museum (Musée du Louvre) in Paris is one of the world’s most renowned cultural institutions, attracting art lovers globally. Originally a fortress built by Philip II, the present Louvre Palace became a public museum after the French Revolution, housing an extensive collection of paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts. It features works seized from the royal collection, confiscated church property, and acquisitions from the French Empire. Visitors enter through the main entrance, marked by the glass pyramid, leading to the underground lobby and eight curatorial departments, including Egyptian antiquities, Near Eastern antiquities, Islamic art, and Greek, Etruscan, and Roman antiquities. The Louvre’s collection features masterworks such as Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and the Winged Victory of Samothrace, displayed in the Grande Galerie and Musée Napoléon. The museum’s history spans from its origins as a fortress to its transformation during the French Revolution and its role in the Second French Empire. While the Louvre’s influence extends globally, including the creation of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, it is often compared to the Musée d’Orsay, which focuses on 19th- and early 20th-century art. With deep ties to France’s history, from Louis XIV to Louis XVIII, the Louvre primarily serves as a bridge between diverse cultures and artistic eras. A escorted tour through its exhibition spaces and Cour Carrée offers an unparalleled journey through ancient civilizations and nation’s masterpieces, making it a must-visit museum.

I recommend arriving a bit early, boarding starts before 7:15 AM. Most of the seats face the river. There are three courses for the meal, which is actually quite filling. However, the main purpose of this trip is to take a boat and see the Eiffel Tower and the Seine River. Also, someone will take your picture, which is a bit expensive at 20 euros per photo, but I see that most people still buy them. Overall, experiencing the boat tour is pretty good.

I stumbled on this by chance on Klook & upon arrival in Paris, saw the buses on the road. I booked it late but was glad I was offered a table. I was alone & was assigned to a table at the back of the bus. As suggested by the waiter, I sat facing the back of the bus & had a superb view of the city during the drive. Food was delicious. Service was prompt. For some reason, my phone was not reading the real-time location of the bus so I had to manually select the attraction to listen to the commentary. I might have missed it out but would be good to inform/remind guests to take along their earpieces or headsets for the commentary (thankfully I had mine). App/Programme was easy to use and comes in various language choices. Even though the plastic holder for the drink glasses, water bottles, bread didn’t look so elegant, it was practical! Overall, an innovative experience and I would recommend at least a first try! I might just do this again in other cities! - and it’s okay to dine alone! :)

I had a good experience with Big Bus Paris. It was an easy and comfortable way to see the main attractions like the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, and Arc de Triomphe. The audio guide was helpful, and the views from the top deck were great. The bus was a little busy at times, but overall it was a relaxing way to explore the city. I would recommend it for first-time visitors who want a simple overview of Paris.

It was a nice tour! Phoebe toured us around Paris and shared fun facts and info about the tourist attractions. She arrived early on the meet up place. She also took our photos. If you have limited time in the city, this is the best tour to join.

I always thought that places like the Louvre were fine to just wander through, since there are so many works that you can't possibly see them all. This time, I was dragged along by a friend to listen to a guided tour, and I didn't have high expectations, but after listening, I completely changed my mind. The explanation wasn't just about introducing the names and dates of the paintings, but also about the relationships between the characters and the historical background. There were many details I hadn't noticed before. It turns out that a seemingly ordinary painting has a complete story behind it. After listening and then looking at the artwork, the feeling is really different. The whole explanation process was very relaxed, and it didn't feel like being "lectured." Instead, it felt like listening to a story, and two hours passed without me even realizing it. The staff was also very patient and the arrangements were clear. For me, this was an experience that truly allowed me to "enter" the Louvre, and it was very worthwhile. Plus, you don't have to squeeze through the individual visitor entrance; the group entrance hardly had any line.

Before taking the elevator to the restaurant, you need to check in at the counter on the right side of the Eiffel Tower entrance (not the ticket office). Then the staff will give you an elevator ticket and an electronic menu. This activity is highly recommended. It is also suggested to arrive a little earlier to avoid long queues.
