Things to do in Kota Belud

Well-paced itinerary & great communication w/our driver, Mr Lai & tour operator. The private tour which was having a driver for the day who was not a tour guide persay but was helpful in pointing out important landmarks & what to do at each location. Otherwise, it was relatively self-guided which was ok as it was mostly self-explanatory. Be prepared for a long day as Kundasang is quite a distance from KK. We saw the Tamparuli bridge - they had a short intro to local traditional music(donation based)prior to crossing, great for photos & trying the instruments. At Pekan Nabalu, tried local fruits, snacks & shopped for handicraft. Desa Dairy Farm (entry not included Rm10 for locals, Rm20 for non-locals, which included a free carton of milk) is stunning. However, the milking process is at 2pm, which we did not stay to see (there is a good video about it onsite) & one could pay additionally to feed baby cows & goats. Do try the icecream there & Sinalau Bakas otw back! Would highly recommend

it was a long ride to n fro and with young kids, it was getting kinda restless but our tour guide mr emp was so patient with us and the kids. apart from that, during the long ride he also shared information and history abt sabah which we weren’t aware of. at kundasang, the temp was so chilly yet the sun was so glaring, it was hot and cold at the same time. kids had a great time at the rabbit farm, fish spa and cow farm. i wanted to try the famous ayam madu and mr emp drove us there with no hesitation. mr emp also offered to take us to alpaca club which was not part of the itinerary. unfortunately, we were so tired! i will recommend this not only bec the kids enjoyed the trip, but bec mr emp is such a patient and wonderful tour guide.

Baoqing was truly our guide of the day. Although I’m a local and have joined multiple tour agencies to Mantanani Island and the Kawa-Kawa River, Baoqing stood out as an exceptional tour guide who showed me how much difference a good guide can make to a trip. He provided clear and detailed information from the beginning until the end, including estimated travel times to each destination, which is especially important for foreign tourists. What impressed me most was his attentiveness during the snorkelling session, where he took the initiative to ask who could and could not swim—something none of the other tour agencies I’ve experienced ever considered. The tour assistants were friendly, patient, and very considerate despite doing this work repeatedly, and their professionalism truly enhanced the overall experience. Steve is such a great guide where he explained everything in detailed. However, for the dinner food maybe can improve on that part. Overall, the trip is nice and we all had fun.

The tour guide was fantastic! Because there wasn't much rain, it wasn't as thrilling, but the guide arranged for us to raft, try diving, and play skipping stones. The entire itinerary was very meticulous, the communication was excellent, and it was well worth participating!
