Cu Chi Tunnel

A really enjoyable workshop! We got to make four traditional Vietnamese coffees, and Sarah explained everything so well. The only thing I’d suggest is providing water since we drink all four coffees. Overall, a fun and worthwhile activity in Ho Chi Minh City.

Did the market tour + cooking class and didn’t regret choosing this option. The market tour not only showed us what ingredients they use and where it came from but also gave us suggestions on where we could buy it (great for people wanting to bring home the exact spices used in the class). The cooking class was very interactive and had a good instructor that didn’t rush us when we struggled with some steps. The dishes we made were also really delicious and it was so cool that each student had the chance to flambé the meat we used for the salad. Would recommend for those wanting to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine or maybe for those who simply want to have fun while eating good food🫶

Chef Yen is an amazing cooking instructor and a great market guide. She made our cooking class wonderful and we felt at home. The lady was really nice. She even offered to style my hair with accessories, however my hair is too short to be styled. There were a lot of ao dai colors and designs to choose from. However, the option sizes are very limited. The ao dais are mostly for slim people, probably because the vietnamese are slim in general. The shop can be difficult to find but it is just inside the alley almost in front of the pink church. You can rent the ao dais until 6PM

Seriously, our cooking class in Saigon was one of those trip highlights that just sticks with you. It felt super exclusive because it was just my two friends and me that morning. We got all the attention, which was awesome.
Our chef was a gem. She was quite patient, guiding us through making three Vietnamese dishes. And the best part? She shared her own stories while we cooked, making it feel less like a class and more like hanging out with a friend who's an amazing cook. We were laughing and having such a great time preparing everything.
We also agreed and think that the spring rolls we made that morning was hands down, the best we had our entire trip.
The saigon cooking class was definitely a class we'll be remembering fondly for a long, long time. If you're heading to Saigon, you should try something like this!

At the coffee workshop, Joey, a Vietnamese coffee enthusiast, gave us a detailed explanation of the varieties, processing techniques, traditions, and culture of Vietnamese coffee. She even guided us in making several Vietnamese coffees ourselves. The French brought coffee beans to Vietnam, and due to its unique geographical and climatic conditions, Vietnam is particularly suitable for growing Robusta coffee beans. Coffee culture is deeply ingrained in Vietnamese life. From selecting and drying the beans to brewing, I blended several coffees with two handsome Argentinian guys. [laughing][laughing][laughing]

I really enjoy participating in workshops when I come to Vietnam. It's a great way to learn more about Vietnamese food and how to make it. Making egg coffee with instructor Tom was easy, and the steps were clear. It's helpful to memorize the steps a little, as the numbers in the recipe PDF provided after the class are slightly different. The history of egg coffee was also explained clearly, making it a very insightful and relaxed activity. The whole thing takes about an hour, and you even get a certificate at the end – I know students really appreciate that. There are also promotional coffee bean sets available for students to buy, and you get a coffee discount coupon. I recommend ordering a different coffee after the workshop. I give this experience a very high rating.
