The Japanese travel agency was very patient in communicating about the delivery of physical tickets. Since we were not staying in a hotel and there was no counter to receive registered mail, the window in charge of the travel agency also left their own phone number for additional assistance.
Great location, and even though it was pouring rain, we still had a blast.
Customer service helps confirm and purchase with confidence. The Gion Festival is wonderful and blends into the local atmosphere.
The core part of the parade are the giant floats. As these have no steering whatsoever, it takes up to 10 minutes to turn them around a corner. So, on your seat, you will see a float coming by about every 10 minutes. This is so boring that half of the people left the paid-seating area already before the end (see photo). Paid seating only makes sense if it is at a place where something “happens” (i.e., either the corners or where the Shinto priests greet the parade). This is not the case for the seats offered by Klook. The organisation (both on the Klook-part and by the local committee) worked flawlessly. The local organisers took care of order (definitely needed when there are many Chinese tourists around) and you also got some cooling material. Advice: Don’t buy paid-seating unless you have some health issues (so you need to sit down). Rather stand at one of the interesting places (see above) or start at the end of the parade and then walk toward its start (to shorten those 10-minute gaps).
